Let's begin on the seme. The seme I usually fall in love with has to be cool-headed, intelligent, and seem rather cold emotionally. However, his reasons for reclused emotion is because he doesn't know how to express it. Often, as seen in many yaois, they're sarcastic and have probably slept with a lot of people. . . or as seen in Okane ga Nai, doing secret trades with probably end at gunpoint. >_>

The ukes that strike me the most are the underestimated, loyal, yet weak type. Usually I find these types to be in a drasticly bad family life such as abuse or assault of sorts. Maybe more orphan-like than anything and with this, he is hidden behind a fake smile.

When the two meet, it's like yin & yang. The uke gains someone who can take away his problems and the Seme can learn to protect and express his emotions. And with a uke on his tail the seme can stop hazardous activities! :D

But the problem with this couple is the uke is often unintentionally raped by the uke. D: It's sad, but the uke figures out the problem and sticks like glue~

me, too. i prefer the kind of seme who hides his soft side. bubbly uke's is nice, too. i think they fit together.

Ummm... I guess it depends on the mood i'm in, but usually I like it when the seme is cool, insanely jealous, overprotective and sweet deep down...

The uke doesn't bring me "types", i think any kind is fine as long as the pairing fits well.

But I mostly prefer love triangle "seme-uke-seme", but then again, I always end up crying: "Which one will I choose?!?"

Oh, such an interesting topic. I'll join then.
I like it when the both: and seme and uke are mostly like ordinary guys. Of course it is really arousing when uke is so cute and seme is so hot, but in real life I think it is a bit complicated to find such an example.
I like it, when both of them have complex unique characters, when it is too difficult to tell from the start who is seme or uke, who is passive or aggressive. When story really long and complicated with different twists’ and conflicts, and certainly not without humor.
To tell the truth, from the very start, when I just start to like yaoi manga, I preferred fragile girly uke and violence strict seme, and I wasn’t against rape scene, nor do I now. But through time it’s already a bit boring: to know in advance what someone of them would do or say next. It’s much more interesting, when you have no clue what kind of person they are and in what kind of situation they would fell into. By the way my favorite mangaka is Yugi Yamada.

I like the seme to be the one who's stoic, aloof, domineering, and mysterious. They've got to have that "tough guy" or "protective" aura. Examples of my fave semes are Takatsuki from the manga The Judged, Masato from Brother X Brother, and Sakaki-san from Heart Strings. Ukes on the other hand, they've got to be the shy flower, or sometimes the feisty and willful ones. ^^
