I am a hardcore DoTA player and was appalled that no such thread involving the discussion of Dota was ever posted. Well....... I guess i gotta start it!! (hopefully the reason that no threads were made were not cuz of the lack of dota players here)

The point of this thread is hopefully (if it's successful) is to talk about the game and maybe some strategies on certain heroes, and teh game itself. Also if your new to the game, u can come here to get tips or help (i'll be happy to help anyone with their troubles) I also know many good sites to help improve ur dota skillz, so all u gotta do is ask. Also you can maybe set up some games here with other members of this forum, just post your username, time, and title of the game!! Well if any1 wants to challenge me, just add me: AzNxEmp3r0r

well i played it for a period of time in the philippines and i never really got into it. but as for specifics, i used razor for long range and the slayer elf (dont know her name). for melee, i used skeleton king and lucifer. imo, there wasnt much strategy involved in it. it all depends on how you use your skills, what items you have and if you ran away in time if you were about to die. not much of a challenge if you ask me. so all in all, ive only spent about a week playing it. if i wanted to play a strategy game, id play command and conquer 3. dota is more like a hack and slash game.

lol im not surprised. when i first heard that it was "the in thing" back in my motherland, i was like "wtf is dota ?!" hahahaha well, its still the "cool thing" to play over there but it becomes a repetitive hack and slash. nothing interesting.

How long ago did u play it? I started around a year ago and at first thought it was just a mindless game just like you thought it is. But actually it has gone through many patches and has up to 90 heroes to choose from. And since each hero has 4 different abilities it takes a ton of skill to master each and every one. Also if u play the game right (not saying u didnt) you will notice that some heroes work in sync with others and that sometimes some spells can work extremely well when used right after another. It takes a long while to get good at one hero and takes even longer to get good at the game. I respect your opinion on the game but if you ask me the game requires a lot of strategy and planning with your teammates (hence each and every1 of u are different heroes) and a lot of knowledge of the game to know what items (there are actually around 100 items u can choose from) work well with your hero

ive played almost a year and a half ago. oh yea and i know what you mean by some heroes need support. kinda like bradwarden being as strong as he is, needs a support hero. but i also guess youre right about the planning, items, etc. but as for a challenge in terms of strategy, im looking for more. and i found it in command and conquer 3. playing against the cpu in brutal rusher mode is near dam impossible. the challenge difference is like night and day between these two games. the truth is, its more of a hack and slash than a strategy game. but oh well. to each his own.

oh and to make a point, i played this game for about a week, i played in a 2vs2 tourney with my cousin and we easily took the purse. (a whopping 1500 pesos) or 30 dollars lol so if a noob like me can help win a tourney, then i think mostly everyone can.

DoTA... man i got bored of it. D=. not very many.. intense games.. god, i swear. every game.. someone lags out, or people leave, or there's an afk. =__= makes the game so boring. anyway. haha Sniper is the best =O.


Dwarven Sniper.
Items.. Mmmm.. treads, 2 bracers, vanguard, butterfly, and then mkb if the game gets that far. Treads are obvious since Snipe's attack speed sucks crap umm 2 bracers cuz sniper has no life.. lol vanguard to FURTHERMORE increase his life expectancy.. and butterfly is essential for any Agi hero. And pretty much after this point your invincible.. >__> i remember i tanked a tower.. from full health (the tower and me both @ full) and after the tower died.. i was at like 2/3 hp... lol with sniper. Finally MKB for the increased attack and speed =O. but games rarely get this far.

yea another reason i didnt like the game was because people would say "accidenteal restart" if they were getting their asses handed to them. a lot of noobs and haXXorz too. it gets annoying when the other team calls "accidental restart" just to get a chance to start over and possibly turn the tables.

thats true and a ton of newbies quit out of games and ruin them. but now they have come out with a banlist program where people who quit, spam, flame, or anything that ruins the game are automatically banned from any other games that the host hosts ever again. And people share their banlists to others on a forum much like this one so every1 who has the banlist program has a list of almost every1 who has been banned. this also scares people from leavin so they dont.

plus, if u complain about leavers dont play public games, start playin league games where u actually have a rank and if u quit u get kicked from the league. (much higher stakes)

P.S. im srry if i sound like im bashin u, bushidomizer, but im not. im just trying to defend the game. lol no hard feelings. :)

lol no problem man. i was bashed plenty of times in the philippines for not liking dota.

oh and i did used to play those ranked games (or servers i believe) back in the high school days. but now since im in college, have a job, and a gf, i hardly have time to dedicate to games. but i still manage to play mgs4 :]
