Re: street fighter IV
The super moves look cool. However that's the only entertaining thing I watched in the game play footage. It'll never beat Mortal Kombat or Soul Calibur...

Re: street fighter IV
I think the developers are stuck in a bind, but hopefully, they can get themselves out.
Capcom faces a dilemma because these are the 3 main groups they need to appease: 1.hardcore fighting game players. Consists of people who play competitively and will know who Daigo is the moment you drop his name. To appeal to this group, Capcom will need to have a balanced game while keeping the characters diverse and have some advanced tactics to learn. Avoid having a god tier consisting of 4 characters in a 50+ character roster. 2.veterans of the old Street Fighters, but as time went on, they moved onto other things as the fighting game genre began to lose its popularity. In order to appeal to this group, they need to get these players feeling comfortable again. Make 'em go, oh yea, I remembered how to do that! Keep in a good list of familiar characters, but add in some new things so the experience is fresh. Have new characters, old favorites, easy to pick up and learn again controls in order to win this group over. 3. Newcomers to the series. I'd say this group consists of younger people who weren't around when arcade games were a big hit, and thus, won't be familiar with Street Fighter. In order to prevent a genre from stagnating, new fans need to be brought in periodically, so this group will player an important role in the future of Street Fighter. To appeal to this group, we need awesome character designs, flashy specials/supers, and a fair level of difficulty. Too easy, and they'll be done in 5 minutes. Too hard, and they'll be throwing their controllers at the TV screen. |

Re: street fighter IV
idc what people say. Street Fighter (to me) is the all time #1 fighter. Grew up with it on my SNES and in arcades. After watching the SF4 trailer and gameplay footage, i just wanted to yell out HADOKEN (which i did) at any person. People on my vent got quite annoyed after the first couple random hadokens :p.

As an art and SF fan, I am impressed with the art style, frame rate, and guard crush parry/cancel. However, SF4 doesn't seem to be doing anything else new which is a failboat in intellectual design. All the "new" characters have been done already and the old characters have a very, very stale moveset. If KOF XII has loc tests, and the roster can be balanced........... |
