Now this is how you do a special edition. Activision and Infinity Ward look to be going all out for its Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 "Prestige Edition," with not only the usual accoutrements like a special casing and an art book, but also what is described by Community Manager Robert "fourzerotwo" Bowling as a "fully functioning NVGs -- night vision goggles." No idea how well they work, but it's got alternating modes and MW2 branding. That's pretty awesome, but we gotta imagine it's gonna demand a pretty penny -- this is definitely more than that $80 "collector's edition" for $80 GameStop is currently listing. You won't be able to get your actual hands on the game until November at the earliest, so in the meantime, hit up the read link to get a glimpse of the "official" unboxing.

Hardened Edition:

★ The original shooter Call of Duty, which can be downloaded in the PSN or Xbox Live

Prestige Edition:

Wow, night vision goggles? That is awesome! I may want to pick this up even though I am not the biggest fan of Call of Duty and it doesn't break the bank. I hope it isn't going to be Rock Band expensive though.

I didn't think I needed night vision goggles until yesterday, when Infinity Ward unveiled the super-spectacular Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 "Prestige Edition." How much will it cost? $149, according to Infinity Ward.

In case you're out of the loop, here's what you get for 149 bones: Modern Warfare 2, an art book, a metal case, a reedemable code for Call of Duty classic, working night vision goggles, and a head to put the goggles on (that's not your own).

Don't need the goggles, or not in the market to blow $149? Try to "Hardened Edition," which will run you $80, and featuring pretty much every but the night vision goggles, which are apparently worth $70. A quick Google product search tells us that you can spend anywhere from $11,982.95 on a pair of night vision goggles, to one dollar for a thriller novel called Night Vision by Paul Levine. Where this puts the "Prestige Edition" goggles in the spectrum of quality is unclear.

Also clarified is some information about the digital download Call of Duty -- it will feature multiplayer. But you'll be too busy playing Modern Warfare 2 instead, right?

Lol, most likely. I mean, they're night vision goggles, that come with a video game...doesn't make too much sense. Don't get me wrong, I would like to get this, but no way am I spending $150 just to get those. I'm not even going for the 'Hardened Edition'. I just want to play the damn game.
