Infinity Ward has confirmed dual-wield guns for Modern Warfare 2, and demonstrated the 'Akimbo' ability using two Desert Eagle weapons.

"Just walked off stage. Crowd was amazing, went insane chanting 'pick it up!' when I stumbled over dual-wield Deagles. lol - Akimbo confirmed," Tweeted Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward's community voice.

In a post on the Modern Warfare 2 forums, Bowling added:

"Now to calm some initial fears of 'OMG! Overpowered!'. Akimbo is limited and balanced, just like everything in the game. It's limited to side-arms, harder to aim than standard and you can't go ADS (aim down sights) since you have a weapon in each hand," he said. "So don't freak out before you see it in action."

Such is the fervour around Modern Warfare 2 that Mad Catz has made some special accessories for the game, which range from $15 to $100 to buy. There are controllers, keyboards, faceplates and even a throat communicator - a microphone that straps around the neck for clear and uncluttered voice communication. The army use them.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on 10th November for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer has been tapped to provide the score for Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2, Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.



Zimmer is known for his work on such films as The Dark Knight, Gladiator, The Rock, and Cool Runnings.

It's only for the console for now, not currently being released for the PC, which is a shame because I think companies need to pay equal attention to the PC community if they want to maximize their profits. Oh well, it's not like I'm shelling out extra monies for artwork and nightvision goggles.

I still think these Mad Catz stuff is unnecessary.

No controller can beat the originals (Sony, Microsoft controllers), unless what Mad Catz does it just put a COD sticker on the original controllers and market it as Mad Catz. But then again, no one would buy them as they cost too much for just a COD sticker.

I seriously think they should use the extra effort to lower the game's price instead of making these unnecessary "Prestige Editions"

Modern Warfare 2 IS being released for the PC. In fact, its has the same release date.

While the action on display in this new Modern Warfare 2 "flag runner" clip is impressive, the more enticing bit of footage comes with the disconnect screen--or lack thereof.

Note that as the multiplayer game's host leaves near the end of the clip, the game searches for a new host and instantly reconnects the players a la Halo 3. A welcome in-game feature for anybody that's been rudely disconnected while on the verge of a glorious backstab.

Had enough of Modern Warfare 2 yet, Man From The Future? Then you want to be thinking ahead to those downloadable maps, some of which are out next spring according to an energy drink. (Is this a bit surreal?)

IGN reports that an energy drink with a MW2 tie-in has a list of competition prizes printed on the side that includes "5,000 MW2 Map Pack codes - planned release Spring 2010".

That rather suggests that one of the map packs for Modern Warfare 2 will be released in spring, don't you think?

There's no word on whether that's the first map pack, or even whether it's one of the Xbox 360 timed exclusives, but we're chatting to various Pepsi bottles and Red Bull cans to try and find out more.

Modern Warfare 2, by the way, is due out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on 10th November.

With Sunday drawing to a close, developer Infinity Ward has loosed a new trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, one that ends in the flaming ruins of a rather iconic locale.

The anticipated shooter sequel hits PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 10--the same day the first Modern Warfare arrives on Wii and Mobilized comes to DS.

Modern Warfare 2 PC Delayed in Europe



Sorry PC owners, it looks like Captain Delay strikes again…Dtoid brings word that UK site ElectronicTheatre.co.uk took a good hard look at Activision’s autumn/winter release schedule and noticed that the PC version of the highly-anticipated Modern Warfare 2 has been pushed back in Europe until November 24, 2009…Two weeks after the game’s console counterparts ship for the PS3 and 360 in the region. Now, the delay has NOT been confirmed for the US as of yet, but once we hear of Modern Warfare 2 PC’s official marching orders, we’ll update our twitter with the deets. Sorry PC gamers in Europe…you’re apparently yet again on the short end of the stick…
