It’s been rumored ever since Square showed off the power of the Playstation 3 by producing a technical demonstration using the intro to Final Fantasy VII. But that was three years ago and nothing has yet been announced.

This would be a shame because I would have pay big money for a PS3 version of Final Fantasy VII and I doubt I’m alone. Could Square Enix really be about to ignore a potential goldmine? Am i right or not?

I heard that Square-Enix would release the new version titled Final Fantasy VII advent Children Complete(FFVII:ACC). It doesn't a remake at all since the story will take place of Advent Children. Also, this game will also include the trial version of Final Fantasy XIII.

I doubt it, though with the way Square Enix has been milking the series, it wouldn't surprise me at all, could you think of a bigger cash grab?
Don't get me wrong, I love Final Fantasy VII, but if you wanna play the game THAT badly, just buy the PS Classic in the PSN Store, or find an old PS1 Copy. I still have mine =D

they specifically said that there are no plans to remake the game
even though, in my opinion, they would get loads of greens if they did remake it >.>
but knowing square enix, they prolly wont due to pride
meaning
they like to one-up the last game they released, continue to grow and look towards the future

I did hear that rumor too, about FFVII remake in PS3, and I thought it has been remade.
the graphic is good, as good as the movie.
they change the clothes too.

FFVII:ACC is released already.

If you own a PS3 or have friends who do, buy it off the PS3 Network Store, pay them 10 bucks and transfer it to your psp, problem solved.

As for now, it's impossible to say if it ever makes it comeback to the Ps3, allthough i have read from an interview with a SE dude that ...

Interviewer : " There has been alot of discussion about the FF VII technical demo you did for Ps3, is there a possibility that there would actually be a remake process going on, or have you even thought of remaking the game ? "

SE-dude : " At this point all i have to say is NO, we have'nt given it a more serious though after the demo was released. Only thing i can tell you is that you should'nt let all hope down, since the descicion to make Final Fantasy 12 was made in 12 seconds "

I can't remember the exact place i read that from, but it was a gaming fest in japan earlier this year, so yeah, patience is a virtue, all we can do, is wait

ps. They'll remake it at last at the point where they need more money :)

Here is something to consider.

~Square-Enix has become a mere shadow of what Squaresoft
stood for in the RPG world, let's face it - most of their modern
titles suck (except for a few DS revivals like Dragon Quest series)

~The company mainly depends on their Final Fantasy series which
has some of the biggest following of fans in gaming in general. The
testimony to that is PS3 hardware sales just when FF13 DEMO came
out! It outsold even Nintendo DS for that month in Japan, unreal!

~The "tech demo" was not only a demonstration of Sony's hardware
but in my opinion a try-out, at least now the guys in Square-Enix know
the game COULD be done.

~Sony is lagging behind 360 and now that everyone's fed up with next-gen
graphics (and we have yet to see truly next-gen gaming) so it all comes down
to EXCLUSIVES. Sony is on the winning side here...

-God Of War
-Metal Gear 4
-Heavenly Sword
-Kill Zone 2
-White Knight's Tale
-Ratchet & Clank

....just to name a few.
So, the conclusion. Invest in a complete re-imagining of FF7 and
make it exlusive on PS3, which is doable since Sony and Square have
a long successful history together, and get the most bad-ass crew
behind the project: Amano, Sakugachi, Uematsu etc.

PlayStation3 would sell through the roof!
And I'm pretty sure these aren't just my fan-boy speculations. The guys
at Square spend every day thinking on how to up their income so these
thoughts must swirl in their heads.
