I just bought a xbox 360, my brother has the wii and the ps3 so I've got the consoles covered the only thing I need is a good game recommendation. I've been focusing on school all semester and I will finally be done with finals in two weeks and I need a truly amazing game to veg out too. The last game I played and liked was half life, but if anyone has a suggestion of a good first person shooter or even something like Final Fantasy X I'd be grateful for ideas.

if its for rpg, the only game i can think of for the 360 would be star ocean. thats really the only reason i use my 360. halo3 is overrated imo.

game for 360? last game i played was left4dead....try it its kinda fun with the infected horde and stuff trying to shred you limb from limb.. ^^

Mass Effect, Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean: TLH, and Fallout 3. As far as FPS go, I'm not too much into them but Halo 3 matchmaking can be pretty fun but it also can get boring. Halo has a good story (especially for a FPS) if you're into that kind of thing but IMO, RPGs have better stories overall(depending on the game).

The First 4 games I mentioned have TONS of replay value and will keep you busy for a while. I own all 4 currently and I haven't put down any one of them ever since I've purchased them.

Also, CoD: Moder Warfare 2 is coming out soon so I don't know if you're interested in that sort of thing. It doesn't have much of a story but it can be fun(I'm basing this off the first Modern Warfare). Halo 3: ODST is also coming out in the fall and it's basically Halo 3 from a different perspective. Those two, you'd have to wait for but if you're looking to get your hands on something good quick, then the first ones I mentioned are the way to go.

Side Note: Mass Effect is now a "Platinum Hit" so it's cheap and it comes with the DLC already loaded onto the CD.

^ oh yea +1 for tales of vesperia. i bought it recently (although havent played it as much yet) from what ive played, its petty fun. and a lot of other people also recommend it.

If you're looking for a sandbox game to try, Dead Rising is the standard. (Dead Rising 2 will be coming out sometime soon)
I also find Halo 3 (or Halo in general) to be incredibly overrated, and I feel the same way about Gears of War. (GoW2 was an improvement)
You may consider the Valve Orange Box for 360.
Left 4 Dead is good, but lacks story; It's still alot of fun for multiplayer cooperative,
but most would agree that Versus mode is unbalanced and only really works when
you're lucky enough to get some teammates that aren't going to be morons.
Also, Bioshock is a good single-player game. (But I don't think it's nearly as good as System Shock 2 was, though not for 360)

Everyone has given good recommendations. However, if your still unsure remember you can download demos for most of these games on the Xbox Live Marketplace for free. All you need is an internet connection.

I dont see any mention of Lost Oddysey, if you like a FFX style game Lost Odyssey is just your thing.

Fallout 3, Resdident Evil 5 and Silent Hill Homecoming are all good games.

and its been mentioned but 100% definatly get Mass Effect, probably the best game on the 360 so far.
