My Opinion Is To Get A 360 Now, Cause Of The Current Game Selection. And Buy A PS3 Later When The Price Drops More And The Good Games Finally Come Out... I Personally Have No Plans Of Buying A PS3... But If I Could Get A PS3 For Around $100 Or Some Other Really Good Deal, I Would (Not To Resell)...

It's Really A Personal Preference Though... Oh And When Buying A New Xbox 360 Check The Box To See If It Has HDMI. If It Has That, Then Red Ring Of Death Will Be Avoided.

? Did you mean buy a 360? I say go for the 360 right now. Its got better online features and a more solid game library. However, you should definately pick up a PS3 in the future as its game library is really starting to get good and the online will only get better aswell. I have both and can say that you'll be happy regardless of your decision the best thing to do is just weigh up the games and buy the system that has more of the games that you want.

I would go with the 360 for now. It has a good selection of games and can easily be modded for backups. I would wait to get a ps3 till the price drops some more, it just isn't worth it at the moment.

Depending on what you like, I would suggest you think about it, and then make a decision:
Are you willing to spend 600$ or 400$?

400$ Xbox360: No wifi, 20GB HDD or not, 50$ for online 14months, 3 usb ports

600-700$ Xbox360: 120GB or 20GB HDD, maybe HDMI, maybe Wifi?, 50$ for online 14months, POSSIBLE HD-DVD drive (or +200$ for external, if not elite xbox360), 3 usb ports

400$ Ps3: No wifi, 20GB HDD, no Ps2 Support, 2 or 4 USB ports, Blu-ray player, HDMI, Free online

600$ Ps3: Wifi, 60GB or 80GB HDD, Card Reader, Blu-ray player, HDMI, Free online

As for some thinking,

Great used and new games? Xbox360
Great new games?(hopefully) Ps3

Which controller do you like more?

If you want a web browser / linux on your TV, Ps3
If you want to buy movies online and download them, Xbox360

Like Halo 3? Ps3 (I kid...)

As for graphic comparisons,
I too could lie or make up some comparison with the other one blurred, believe me you won't really be able to tell the difference unless its a REALLY bad port.

just being able to play FF13 is already worth the price
most games I'm interested in are exclusive for PS3

I'd rather buy a Wii than X360 if you're not considering PS3
