Sig tutorial (with gimp)
This is my fist tutorial and we will be making this sig:
![]() ![]() render: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 1.Alright start off with a canvas with any BG I chose the size 400x115. 2.Now paste the render you plan on using (don’t resize it) until it fills the BG then do a layer to image size. 3.Use the pick filter (Filters -> Noise -> Pick) with both settings at 100. 4.Then a motion blur (Filter -> Blur -> Motion blur) with 0 as the angle and 35 as length. 5.Duplicate the BG and Gaussian blur (Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur) it with 20/20 settings and set it to overlay. At this point you should have this: ![]() 6.Now open your render again and resize it until it fits. 7.Place it close to the right edge, but not touching the side, of the sig then layer to image size (Layer -> Layer to Image size). ![]() 8.Duplicate the layer 3 times so you have a total of four and hide the top two 9.Make a new layer and fill it with the sparks brush then displace it by itself (Filters -> map -> displace) keep the default values but with smear instead of wrap. Hide this layer. ![]() 10.Then displace the first copy of your render by the sparks layer and change the mode to screen at 60%. 11.Move this layer over a bit so it is more visible then go layer to image size. ![]() 12.Leave the second render layer as it is and go to the third render layer and change the mode to hard light. ![]() 13.The last render layer smudge it out with any brush, I used the vine brush. Pick the layer with both settings at 100, then do a Gaussian blur at 20 then set it to overlay. ![]() 14.Create a new layer and do a gradient (white to transparent) in radial shape to create lighting set the mode to soft light. 15.Duplicate the layer and set it to grain merge. ![]() 16.Now make a new layer and create path lines which flow with the sig, I erased some of one line to add some depth. (Refer to this thread on how to make them [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]). ![]() 17.Duplicate this layer and displace it with the sparks layer and lower the opacity to 60%. ![]() 18.Now we have to fill the empty space on the left. Create a new layer, I used a couple of swirly brushes that I had. Set the mode to overlay. ![]() 19.Duplicate this layer and displace it by the sparks layer but at 10/10 rather than the default. ![]() 20.Now do a copy visible and put a black to white gradient map on it then set the layer to overlay. ![]() 21.Now add some text as you will and a 1 pixel black border. Thank you for reading this tutorial :D please post some outcomes.

Re: Sig tutorial (with gimp)
What do you mean by number 10 with the render?
I'm kinda confused. Plus the tutorial in some parts were vague after that. Last edited by mimi_girl : 07-14-2007 at 02:15 PM. |
