Can someone please tell me a way to storing my data safely without any corrupt or something like that..
Because i have lost my data a few times now... First, i lost everything when i stored it in my external harddisk and in a few days the harddisk starting to make a sound and couldn't connect to my PC.. Then when i downloaded it again and burn it to a blank DVD.. In a few months, the DVD couldn't be read by my CD-ROM.. It has some like water marks on my DVD but i keep it quite safe with no water at all.. (I wonder what makes them have a mark like that) So i think is there any way to keep my data safely without have to worrying to lost it.. Can anyone please help me here? Any suggestion would be appreciated... ![]() Our memories lies deep inside me...

Re: Need Help with storing data
I keep mine organized on a external hard drive. if the data is that important, also get a backup external drive. Data will always end up getting lost one way or another. Servers have problems, computers have problems, and etc. The safest in my opinion is to keep it on an external, and whenever you're making any big system changes, make sure your external is disconnected.

Re: Need Help with storing data
well I'd say buy a Small 2.5inch external that you can put away after you backed up or DVDs if you don't wanna spend as much money but both have already been suggested , if you want it on a FTP I hear dreamhost is good and cheap but Skydrives are free but have a file size restriction.

Re: Need Help with storing data
Safest way is to keep multiple copies of the data. If, say, you lose 1 EHD, buy another one and you'll still have your data from your first EHD.

Re: Need Help with storing data
this is a pretty common issue with external usb drives. Had the same problem with my usb flash storage before, tried reinstalling my drivers = nada. Even so you might still want to check whether any of your USB port drivers are not working properly. Open device manager to do so and look for any caution sign beside the drives. This means that the driver needs updating or reinstalling. Other than that make sure you also store your data often on other external sources, even on a different computer just to make sure it's safe.
As for your disc drive issue, not really sure why it's causing the disc to be unreadable. My best bet is that your disc drive's writing capability is broken or could be the other way, or simply just dead. If you hear any clicking sound when your burning or reading discs it's definitely broke. This could also be the primary reason why ur getting watermark looking things on the disc, a loose part could be scratching the film off. ![]() Sharingan Bearer~

Re: Need Help with storing data
Well first it sounds like you might have a virus, unless you are talking about a usb hard drive having corrupted data on it then I'd say either you have a usb virus or you do not eject your drives properly Ie safely remove hardware.
But otherwise if you want to be completely sure you have your data buy an extra HDD (can be external) large enough to hold your data and use Acronis Imaging Software (Not Free) or something similar to make an image of your hard drive and place it onto the extra HDD |

Oh yeah i have 2 external HDD, one is 40 gb and the other 80gb.. But 1 has broken like i said, making some sound like "beep" or something like that and couldn't connect to my PC(Luckily it was the 40GB one not the 80gb).. That happens when i just formatted the disk and put all my data to it... When i plug it on the EXACTLY next day, its broken... Do you have any idea why is that happening? ![]() Our memories lies deep inside me...
