Re: Fallout 3 Problem
What graphic card do you have? ATI or Nvidea?
to find out ==> START ==> execute ==> type DXDIAG ==> choose monitor (or what its called in english, thought second or 3rd tab) then se what you have. |

Re: Fallout 3 Problem
Have you updated your nVidia & DirectX drivers?
Have you updated the game to the newest version? Sometimes these 3D games may crash when one of the graphics features doesn't work well with your particular video card or driver. Try lowering/turning off graphics features. This link might help you: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] I don't know about the other nVidia video cards, but on my 8400GS, the stupid PhysX component really messes up the video card, so I always install any newer drivers without the PhysX component. Try going into the nVidia video card settings and disabling PhysX to see if that helps. Try uninstalling & re-installing the game one more time. (Copy your saved games to another folder first, if you want to preserve them.) |

Re: Fallout 3 Problem
Well, I guess that the only thing left would be to call up Bethesda's technical support department, or try looking in the forum on Bethesda's web site.
Perhaps someone there had the same problem as you and has solved it. EDIT: This game installs that 'Microsoft Games 4 Windows' thing. Supposedly there was some kind of problem with it and it needs to be updated. This might be the whole problem. The Version 1.5 Fallout 3 patch writes new files for MG4W, so maybe that will fix the problem if you haven't updated already. The MG4W thing must be uninstalled from Control Panel because it stays even after you uninstall the game. Perhaps you can try uninstalling the MG4W thing and then re-install the game (which will also install MG4W), then try playing the game. Maybe the old MG4W files left over from when you initally installed the game are no good. Last edited by psych; 07-14-2009 at 11:24 AM. |
