You've never updated the game??? Well, anyway, I don't have the Fallout 3 game, but I asked someone else who has the game about your problem. He said that it could be anything, but the Microsoft for Games Live! thing might be a problem if you have the old version installed and you want to install a newer version on top of it. He said to try uninstalling the old Microsoft Live! thing from the 'Add & Remove Programs' icon in Control Panel, and then run the Fallout 3 patch which will install the new version. The latest patch is 1.6, though there isn't too much of a difference from 1.5.
