video/audio playback problems
I've had the same laptop for a while now and every so often I experience the following:
-.rm/.avi/.mkv files in green-scale but video still visible or total green screen w/ audio -.rm files video speed 2x - 3x faster than audio ![]() These such errors seem to occur randomly and w/o warning for me and just for fun I've backed up my vids on a external HD to test on other PCs and the vids play fine. Normally I can fix this by uninstall & reinstall the codecs but eventually the only way to get it working again is to DFFR which I'm sure most of you know is a pain. Also for some reason still unknown to me I am never able to install the same codecs that worked before. That is to say if I was using K-lite 2.03 then this time I can't install that same package, rather I'd have to install the CCP or the All in one package. This last time I tried the K-lite 3.45 and it was a nogo so I tried K-lite 2.03 and it worked. ![]() I also installed the VLC this time so maybe I won't experience probs with the .mkv and .avi anymore. I prefer to keep everything in .avi or .mkv just b/c of the ease of playback but not everyone has all anime and hentai in .avi or .mkv so I get stuck with .rm and .rmvb. I'm using a 500GB external now and am looking into getting a 1TB external for future fav anime and hentai archiving purposes. ![]() Anyway, since my Laptop sucks I don't take it anywhere nor do I get online w/ it as I have access to other higher end comps w/ faster connections (where I live Dial-up is my only option so I jus don't use it). I've even scanned my laptop for viruses and installed the same codecs I use on other PCs and have never gotten the same errors. My only option left from what I am seeing is to just buy another PC/laptop unless anyone knows how to resolve this issue? I'm sorry this is kinda lengthy for you guys but I hope someone will at least say "ha well here's your problem". My specs: Dell inspiron 2650 (yes I know dell sucks but I got it free so I couldn't complain) OS: Win XP (I don't install SP2 since it slows my PC down so much) Mem: 256ram VC: Nvida GeForce2Go (yes again I know this sucks and I can only play at most warcraft III and Starcraft) I don't have my laptop w/ me now but if you need are concerned about some other spec I'll look it up when I get home. ![]() |
