Recent Computer Problems
My first problem is with Nero 6. Mind you, I bought my current computer from a relative for a seemingly good price about a year ago. I came with Nero 6(apparently came with the burner-Memorex DVD RW Dual Layer 16x) I soon after installed Windows 98SE(since it's the only OS I own) I was using the programs of Nerovision 2. It wasn't working correctly(was trying to make AMVs)
So, I uninstalled it using add/remove programs. Restarted. I went to go re-install it. I got this error: Error 1 So, I looked up the file and clicked properties. It looked fine. I double clicked it and got this error: Error 2 I then, went to the nero website. They had a cleaning tool. I used it and restarted. Still the same errors. So, I looked at the installation files, and it also had a cleaning tool. I ran that. Same errors still. I need the progams because it's the only thing to burn and/or video editing. I will not download Nero 7 due to the fact that my computer got a disk write error each time I tried to download it for some reason. Any suggestions? My second problem is that my burner made the most annoying sound the other day, before all this happened, when I was coping one of my DVDs to my hard drive. It was so bad, I had to take the DVD out. I couldn't bear the sound it was making. It was the third DVD I was coping to my hard drive in like a 30 minute interval. I took it out and retried after about 20 minutes afterwards, but the sound persisted. I tried again the next day, but I walked out of the room when I did that DVD again. Other DVDs didn't make the sound. Any ideas? |

Re: Recent Computer Problems
yeah, that was what it sounded like... Do I need to get another drive?
Oh, and the XP thing. I finally got 98SE about 2 years ago. I know XP has been around forever...but I couldn't afford XP nor could my computer handle it at the time. When I got my new computer, still no XP installation disc(s). The computer didn't come with a Hard Drive. |

Re: Recent Computer Problems
My recommendation is you get a new computer altogether. Never trust relatives and never trust friends trying to sell you 2nd hand material. In fact, I recommend you trust them less than any other stranger you would buy 2nd hand material from. Next point, never buy 2nd hand computers. A new computer these days will most likely have better specs than a 2nd-hand one for a similar price. (You just need to find the right specialist shop.)
For you problem specifically, try searching for the file using the windows search utility and running it manually. If you can't find it, just find your nero files and do a manual delete of the files. As with the DVD drive, I agree with Blu. |

Re: Recent Computer Problems
well.. im sure if you type a search you can find the specific files yer missin on the internet... as for your noise problem... either your drive is dying, it needs to be SERIOUSLY cleaned, or there may be a chance somethings out of place

Re: Recent Computer Problems
To be specific I bought the computer since it was way better than my previous. 10x the RAM of my old computer.
Here's What I got: AMD Sempron 2200+ 960.0MB RAM OS: Mircosoft Windows 98 Second Edition CDROM: Memorex DVD 16+/- HD: Seagate 40GB HD Slave: Seagate 200GB HD Spare: Seagate 200GB No Floppy Drive(laugh...) Motherboard: Biostar M7VIG 400 Built on Graphics and Sound Cards Normal old wired keboard Laser wired mouse Normal old wird microphone Thrustmaster Fusion Digital Gamepad(only works with Windows 98-but hardly use) IBM E74 Monitor I actually had problems getting XP...no stores around me have it. All have Vista or nothing. And you're probably right on not buying from relatives... But, I may just get rid of my computer altogether. But...I'm addicted to the internet and my amvs... |
