Re: Recent Computer Problems
the noise you are talking about might come from that your dvd drive is loose, and as long as the dvd's you put in it don't get scratches from the drive or the dvd's have big scratches(by big scratches i mean to the point where you can feel them, if they are that big, the whole dvd or cd can break into 100 pieces inside your dvd-rom and be lucky if the laser isn't destructed) it should be ok.

Re: Recent Computer Problems
I got a new problem:
I have XP home edition. I have a pretty crappy internet service provider. Well, it was down for a few hours. When it was back on, my computer came up with the following message: Your computer is having a IP address conflict with another system on your network. Well, truth be told. We have plenty of other systems on the network, like 4. 3 wireless laptops/notebooks and 1 PS3. They all work, but this is the first time I got the message. Is there a way to get the message from showing(appearing)? And would this have any impact on the PS3 with the constant DNS and server errors? |

Re: Recent Computer Problems
Yes, there's a high chance that they're related.
Could You provide more information on Your connection type? Right now the only suggestion I have is to restart the router and see waht happens. |

Re: Recent Computer Problems
I changed my IP through means of ipconfig/release and getting one automatically. The error went away...but wasn't too sure on everything else. We have DSL 1meg/s and we pay $80/month.

Re: Recent Computer Problems
I had a problem two months ago where my PC just suddenly keeps freezing on startup. At first the tech guy said it was something wrong with my RAM, and true enough when he removed one of the DIMMs my system now booted okay (except now with lower RAM).
A month later, my PC was freezing on startup again, and I decided that it was time to upgrade. From 1GB of DDR2-533 I decided to upgrade to 2GB of DDR2-667, figured if I'm gonna upgrade, might as well go the whole nine yards. RAM is cheap right now. So again my PC is working fine again. It happens a third time, however, and now I'm seriously thinking something's wrong with my motherboard, maybe ruining my RAMs. Scratching my head in frustration, I binged on Chocolate Crunchies from the fridge while trying to figure out what the heck was wrong. An otaku's computer is his wife. If his PC is sick, he also cannot settle down and do nothing. Then I remembered I had installed a USB hub a couple months before. I've always had trouble with the darn thing -- only one of the four ports work, and not reliably at that. I know I should have returned it, but I just could not find the time. I also remembered that soon after installing it I also began encountering such weird stuff as my PC randomly beeping, as if a USB device were being put in and pulled out in rapid succession. Desperate at this point to try anything, I decided to give it a shot -- and remove the darn thing. Gritting my teeth, I crouched behind my PC (my USB ports are on the back) and pulled the hub from my system. Not really expecting anything to happen, I sank into my chair and lifelessly pushed the switch on. And then... SWEEEET RASPBERRY JAM ON A PIZZA! It booted properly! I don't have the technical expertise to even try and explain how the heck a USB hub could cause that kind of sickness on my PC, but that's what happened. Maybe some of you know and would like to enlighten me on what the heck happened.
Disregard that, I liek mudkips. lol.
