[GUIDE] How to Convert RMVB to AVI

First of all, this is not my guide. it was made by DeLeTrIuS, from another site. But because of the rules (yes i read them :)) i can't give a direct link to the site. So im gonna copy and paste his guide to here (without the pics, because the rules says u cant :(, and im too lazy to dl the pics and put them up sumwhere else :P). If u NEED the pics (which u do) then go to google, search "Convert RMVB to DVD" and click the second link. to find it even easier, also add "DeLeTrIuS" into your search. and there ya go, so on with his (DeLeTrIuS') guide :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lately, i have been searching for a solution to convert RMVB files, but all I found were guides on converting RM files. So I began searching everywhere and finally, one day I discovered a solution! Also, since there were no guides around and a lot of people were asking how to convert RMVB files, I decided to make my own RMVB conversion guide! This is my first guide so sorry for any errors and feel free to post comments, suggestions and problems!

This guide will explain how to convert a RMVB file to a AVI file.

Tools Required:

EO Video (has a 30 days-trial)

Step 1 - Preparing

Download and install EO Video
Open up EO Video.
First, click on File and go to "extension manager". A screen will pop up..
Next, find Real Media
go to its extension and click on it, then type ",rmvb" ("remember to add a comma before it") .
After, press close. (Now you can use RMVB files!)

Find your RMVB file and drag it to the "Playlist" section.

Step 2 - Converting

Click on the "converter button" in the lower left-hand corner, beside "Player" and "Joiner".
if your not on the profile page, click on the "Profile" button.
Choose your output format, (im going to use AVI)
Next, change the options to whatever you like in the "video and audio box."
(I usually leave it as it is...)

Step 3 - Output

Now click on the "Output button".
1a)If you have more than one file in your playlist, chose either joining the two files into one new AVI file when its done converting or
1b) Just have them separately by choosing "convert each Playlist item into separate output file".
1c)Or you can chose the split option using the file's time or size.

2a)After chose the file destination folder and
2b)it's output name.

Step 4 - Convert

Finally click on the convert button
check that your converting the right file and press the "Start" button.
his process will take some time so don't stare and wait for it :P

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

k so that was his guide (without pictures, and sum spelling corrections :)). Remember to give your credit to him, Enjoy!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!oh ye if there was already a guide like this then im very, very sorry and u can delete this (as in, keep the better guide :P)

Re: [GUIDE] How to Convert RMVB to AVI

You might want to check out a tool called simply "super converter" by erightsoft.

It can convert d*mn near anything into d*mn near anything. It also has a feature that allows it to use directshow to decode a file, which means it can supposedly decode anything that cane be played in windows media player, though I haven't tried this myself (as I utterly loathe WMP, and have no diea what will and will not play in it).

So far I've used it to convert .mkv and .flv files to various .avi formats, with fairly good results, though the video appeared a bit grainy when converting from .flv (which I think is due to the poor quality of the source files, not the converter).

The only real drawback is that finding the download link on their page requires a bit of wading. (It's there, and openly available, just mixed in with a bunch of stuff that looks like a downlink but isn't.)

Re: [GUIDE] How to Convert RMVB to AVI

Yeah starfire is right SUPER [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] is much easier way to convert almost any media to another media. I have used it to create flv files so I could stream them to my Wii but it can't quite do the right quality for that atm though I think that maybe more to do with the Wii than the convertor.

Re: [GUIDE] How to Convert RMVB to AVI

Could you maybe tweak the encoding settings and make it work? I know encoding in avi there're a TON of options you can configure.
