Death Note

[Luffy]

Light Yagami (Or Raito) is an ace student with great aspects who is bored out of his mind. One day he finds the Death Note, a notebook held by a shinigami (Death God). With the Death Note in hand, Light decides to create a perfect world. A world without crime or criminals. However when criminals start dropping dead one by one, the authorites send the legendary detective L to track down the killer.

on that note... what are u all's final thoughts on the anime? i really enjoyed it... definitly on my top 5, close to the top, not sure if it's 1st or 2nd though.... cuz i really enjoyed FMA too....

I just finished it in two and a half sittings. Besides getting a very flat ass, I was hooked and totally into it from the first minute. I saw that it was rated as a "masterpiece" at ANN (by a wide ratio) and so with a little skepticism, started watching...

HOLY SHIT!!! IMHO (since I've only been watching -constantly- anime for two months) thought it was outstanding. Gripping, suspenseful, and with great characters, even the minor ones, it kept my attention for its full length. I've been real picky with the series I've watched, and this one surpasses them all in terms of writing, plot twists, and suspense.

No giant robots or fan service or lolis, but a real mature, dark, and satisfying run. Very impressed.

And Aya Hirano (Haruhi S.) was the voice of Misa-Misa, and I totally didn't recognize her, those two characters being so different (Misa is something of an airhead LOL).

Anyway, highly recommended if into detective/mystery/supernatural stories (the Shinigami were hilarious LOL)...

Death Note in a way can be compared to code geass, another great anime show, just that mechas don't show in death note. Both animes are basically about the great "mind" war and it is pretty exciting.

The ending of Death Note was a little screwed up. I'm not going to spoil it, but what happened at the end was something I wasn't expecting. I wasn't shocked about it, but I was hoping for a different outcome.

Ryuk killed him in the anime aswell...and I think it would have sucked if it wasn't mikami as the pawn because he was just so damn awesome when he wrote names like a psycho.

Anyway I really enjoyed this anime and even when L died, but after I was like NOOOOO L!!!!! I enjoyed all the smarts that they did to get to the other which makes you go "oh man that was just too good". I kinda died when L died and Near and Mello came in. Really disliked those kids and was just meh towards them. No one can replace L he was just too good.

I recently watched the live action movies and they were okay. Ofcourse the cgi wasn't that good but I didn't watch it for that. It was almost like the anime but just some things didn't match which I found alright. Didn't bother me that much but still made me go "hey wait that's not right". Didnt like L in the live action as much as I did the anime because I thought he was too jerk like :b and a definately nice twist to the ending which I didn't expect.

I love this anime, almost every aspect o it, it's in my top 3 best animes for sure. Dislied the mello and near part, they were lame, anime should have ended on L's death x/ Btw. Yagami (have anyone noticed its "im a gay" when read backwards?) looks cool as shinigami x)

I really dislike this anime because it butchers the manga in many ways.. They should have either ended with L's death or showed what happenes next in it's integrity, not some super fast recap and then show the ending..

I thought it was amazingly well done and intriguing however it sadly dropped off in quality as it got closer to the end imo. Light became too insane and seemed much less intelligent then when the series began. I also was disappointed in the cheep way he got fooled. I think the ending to the special 2hr episode was far better than the ending to the anime. ^^ I am a sucker for happy endings ;P
