It seems that the Nintendo Wii has surpassed the sales of the Xbox 360. The sales are 10.57 Million (Wii) and 10.51 Million (360). The reason this is amazing is because that the 360 had a 1 year lead on the Wii and PS3. The Nintendo Wii is selling more than the PS2 when it came out. Hopefully more developers will start making better games instead of ports now.

thats was no surprise to me i knew it would happen but i still like to my xbox 360 more . for some reason i just dont believe ps3 ever going to catch up to the two since they hardly got any good titles out while wii and 360 got good one out and still coming before this year is over

well ya, but the 360 has been out for a year of two so alot of people got one so its obviously going to surpace it when everyone got one already.

nd last time i read something on forbes it said xbox was up to 14 million, that was a month ago
i doubt people went back in time and stopped themselves from buying 360's

yeah wii have sold more console then xbox360 but the games for wii suks and are still the same like super mario and all his other version....

Microsoft has sold around that many to retailers (which means a lot of them are sitting in warehouses and store shelves). You also have to remember their have been a lot of 360's that have been returned due to problems with the console (its been estimated that around 30-40% of total 360's have been returned for new ones). Thankfully mine is still going strong since launch:beautifu2:

I agree with you about their not being a lot of good games for the Wii but their are some good ones and this fall their are going to be a lot more. The ones I'm looking forward to the most are Dragon Blade, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Dragon Quest. With all the games coming out between the 360, PS3, Wii, I'm going to be broke:aty: oh well at least I'll have a blast:banzai: until my girlfriend beats me to death:em0157: for wasting so much money and time.

Nintendo does well in getting their brand of gaming out there, that's all there is to say. They focus on what people want in a game console, not what kind of definition you can get your view in, or what all services and merchandise that can be gained mainstream through the internet.
I'm not surprised that Nintendo is doing well, in fact, I'm confident in their future endeavors, and I'm looking forward to what they have in store soon.

Personally I think the reason why the Wii is doing so well is because Nintendo made a good decision in keeping simple. PS3 is a bit overpriced and there hasnt been enough games released so its a bit obvious why they havent had as good of a start as Wii did. Hopefully things with Sony improve (i own a ps3 and no wii)

Also one of the reasons why that nintendo does better then microsoft and sony is that they have been around almost since the beginning of videogames and consoles. So they have a better feel for what people want.

The only damn reason the wii has sold more is cause its fucking cheaper, it has shit for games right now (besides paper mario <3) and has NO good shooters, were the fucks wii's shadow run? or gears of war? or bioshock? or rainbow six vegas? huh huh! No where cause wii sucks for teenagers nuff said, Unless your a fucking pussy who loves pokemon

Nope....you should remove Devil may cry 4 from that list since it "is" on the 360...And I highly doubt ff13 and KH3 are going to boost US sales by that much, Maybe mgs4 will boost them but I highly doubt it will beat the 360.... also...

nintendo did a great job, they target the kids and the casual gamer market, the 360 and the ps3 are for more hardcore gamers , that like graphics and stuff, i have a 360 and will buy a wii (if i find one ) for my son.

Everyone buys the Wii because its cheap. But when they have it they dont know wtf to do with it.
it's not too surprising, it appeals to all age groups and ethnicities, fat people get to "exercise" while playing games so that's a very good excuse to get it. old people can get into as well, just everyone can play.
360 and ps3 are for hardcore gamers imo, for people who go

Graphics wise:
Ps3 > X360 > Wii
Game wise:
X360 > Ps3 > Wii
Gaming Rig wise:
Ps3 > X360 > Wii
I'm sure there's a lot of upset parents right now that didn't manage to grab one of those elusive Wii's. I had trouble finding mine, and that was at the end of summer well away from this crazy season.

Even if Nintendo didn't have better sales than the other platforms they're already the winner because unlike Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo make profit on hardware sales! Cheap and profitable!

Nintendo wins overall. They attract nongamers, which is quite the majority of the population. Hardcore gamers make up little to none of the general population. So, attracting all the nongamers gets you a larger profit when compared to attracting the hardcore gamers, which are still divided between two other systems and will likely buy the wii as a second system due to it's low price.
Then there's the nintendo fanboys, like me. ;)

What do you call a hardcore gamer? I've played in almost all consoles (nes, super nes, sega-saturn, PS 1, 2 & 3, gamecube, wii, xbox, etc.) and i can say that the console doesn't make a player, my friend that owns the PS3 (before that the ps2) even though he plays first person shooters a lot, he's not very good at it, he also plays RPG's (FF & Dragon Quest mainly) he doesn't get all the items or the characters.
Who would be the hardcore gamer? he who has spent so many hours of his life in front of the TV, or me who am a lot better but has only 1/4 of his time to play?
Wake up people, we play for fun, ALL of us are hardcore gamers, some play First person shooters, others sports, others adventure, action, MMORPG's, etc. but we ALL want to have fun
Nintendo is winning because its cheap AND fun playing the Wii, they belived they could make something interesting for everybody, casual players and veterans, they bet end they ARE winning (things can change)
PS3 is great and is about to get greater with some of the games that are on the door, but the same complexity it has, it's holding him back, the games take too long to be released (aside the fact of it's price.
XBOX is good but half of the games i can buy them for my PC
NOTE: Sorry if i sounded a bit harsh, its my way of speaking :hot:

I also have something to add. The wii is actually has a different way of gameplay which you actually move around. I believe that this will eventually evolve into virtual gameplay instead of a remote and a tv. Nintendo has done something that no other console has done (not that I know of anyways) It is also some exercise instead of just sitting there getting fat. I will not say it is the best exercise but it is better than sitting around. (I say this because yes I have sweat while playing sonic and mario at the olympics) There is still the use of buttons but I believe that it will eventually disappear also. The good thing about this console is not only introducing a new concept in general but also reintroducing old games and such. There is also an option to play gamecube games on this system.

ignoring DMC 4 (which has already been pointed out as going to the 360)
KH3 hasn't been announced, only a crappy cellphone game in japan and two different titles for DS and PSP
i have a hardcore KH fan on my floor and he kinda doubts KH3's existance
anyways, i have a 360 and that's it
i don't like getting launch consoles with no game library, which is why i'm confused that the Wii is doing so well
i thought i'd start off slow then take off like a rocket when good games using the Wiimote come out 1.5 years after launch. I know people who have a Wii because it's Nintendo's and don't use it at all... (except to play SSBM)
i'd buy a PS3 for MGS4, maybe FF13 if it doesn't suck (i haven't played but an hour of FF12, by that time i should have been hooked like 7-10 had me hooked)
so i think there are a lot of people waiting on a PS3 for the right games to come out

The reason the Wii has pulled slightly ahead of the Xbox 360 is the infamous "Red Ring of Death." SOOOO many 360's have had manufacturing errors that it has seriously damaged the Xbox 360's reputation. Even the little brown boxes that Microsoft ships out to you to send the 360 in for repairs have been dubbed "coffins." I'm not surprised at all that the Wii has pulled ahead of the Xbox. Otherwise Wii would have been left in the dirt with the PS3.

at least they didn't try and bring back the virtual boy...
the 360's backwards compatibility is kinda meh, some games won't every be compatible and others that should never have been made are (mostly just because some other game's fix worked for them)
the PS3 is good IF you get the 60gig model off eBay or some place that never sold out
the 40 gig has no support for the PS2 :monk:
and the 80 gig has the same software emulation that the 360 has (not the same, but same idea)
i know not if that's going to be good, as it hasn't been out long

Huh? I believe theres only a handfull of games that aren't compatible and there japanese made, So...Not like your really "missing" out on a ton of games you own, Hell I doubt you've even heard of the games yet played them.

Actually i think all platforms are good, despite their flaws. I like the 360 just because you can easily make a group of friends to play shooters with if you like.The wii is just fun everyone knows that they love mario and or zelda and smash bros. is really good too.The ps3 is good it just has one flaw atm that's no real games besides that iwould probably useit more than my 360. To put it one way if you playshooters now get a 360 casual gamers and nintendo fans get a wii,And wait on the ps3 till they get more games(soon hopefully)but i choose to play games not sytems i'd beto angry if i only had one.

i just checked wikipedia and you are correct
the list is much better than the last time i saw it. Not to nitpick or anything, but Deus Ex: Invisible War isn't a Japanese game i've never heard of. Your statement is very true 99% of the time though.
but still some games have some frame rate or display issues.
There's also the possibility that you probably won't go back and play any of the Xbox games (i haven't yet)
