Which one is better? I need help in deciding which one to buy. Some people say that plasmas do not last long, other say that they are better. any help would be appreciated.

I would go for LCD because Plasma has a chance of burning the image into your monitor. I've been using a LCD monitor for 2 years now and I've never had a problem with it. Altho the lower priced models do have a slower refresh rate than a comparable Plasma screen (I may be wrong).

check out that and decide which is best for you.

If you plan to use your TV as a PC monitor or for Xbox PS3 gaming, i think LCD is better.
For watching movies, go for plasma.

the burning that freehero talk about is because plasma should not and never play still image. I ask my friend that work as technician in AOC say that plasma is good but if you play still image for a little bit long time, 100% chance to burn your plasma tv is true.

I like plasma because it has more colors and better contrast
but if you plan on gaming with it, an lcd would probably be better suited

LCD imho is ALOT better than plasma.

Less residual heat from it, less colour burn.

Plus you the image isnt positional dependant so you never get dark screens if viewed from an angle.

HI,

I got both plasma and LCD.

My dad bought the LG plasma two years ago, I dont use it very much because its his stuff and he use it most of time during the night so I dont get to use it.
As far as I can see, the picture of the plasma is same your ordinary tv but larger and clearer.

I bought an Sony LCD, I can pick it up straight away that the picture got enhanced by the tv, it make the face (people) look clean and smooth which make it un-natural, while the plasma look natural. But its not as bad as it sound, some people might like it. When you watch anything beside human's face, you might like LCD because it look nicer, the picture has been enhanced.

So you can see why LCD is better for game than plasma. It enhance the game graphic, make it clean and more smooth.
I also plug my laptop to my LCD TV and it was awesome, its like having a 46 inch monitor, I love it, its clean and clear and BIG....

If you only use tv for watching movie, you must get a Plasma, because the movie play better on plasma than LCD. But if you need to use for game, monitor, and other thing, get LCD.

Plasma, Plasma has superior Contrast Ratio, Color, viewing angle compared to LCD tvs. They're best bought in the 40"+ range. However recently LCDs have been closing the gap, as they tend to cost less and still offer good image quaility.

If you have the money, Plasma, otherwise LCD.

Also note that LCD's have a "hard time" creating a dark/black image.

i prefer LCD, but thats because im a gamer... and plasma dont last long enough for how much they cost, imo

Yeah...I'm gonna have to go with LCD here.
Plasma can produce more vibrant colors (it is a direct cross between CRT and LCD technologies) but the screens burn out after x-number of hours of viewing, and have to be replaced...and they cost a fortune.

LCD. Cheaper and last longer. Enough said.:em096:
