Im not sure. The first translation i read, Tobi said: "I have the power of Madara", but some people tell me, the correct translation would be "I am Madara and have its power". Even so, i think it's more probable that he's Madara rather than Obito.

um actually if he is madara he is possibly a hundred years old or more and given the all immortality jutsus have nasty requirements he may partially be obito or at least have his body as a means of staying alive. Plus he could of lost that eye when he was defeated by the first hokage and just causes he is evil dosent mean he cant be a muppet too.

Nothing in the manga says he is the founder of the Uchiha clan. He is the first Uchiha reported to have the mangekyou sharingan. He fought with the first hokage and lost, the battle created the valley of the end, which later served as a battleground for naruto and sasuke.

A popular theory is that Uchiha Madara is in fact danzou or somehow connected to Danzou. The tobi=obito theory, though popular still, is something I find to be untrue.

And by the way, the manga HAS indeed stated he is Madara. The nearly unanimous opinion amongst translators in the scanlation communities is that he was referring to himself in the third person.

Well, in the manga, 2-3 weeks ago, itachi said that madara was still alive but a shell of his former self so yes, it's almost written on his face that tobi IS Madara

Anyway, Madara is not the founder of the Uchiha clan. It existed long before him. Uchiha is however a founder of the Legendary Sharingan whoes eyes have numerous abilities that have such incredible powers it wears out the body and eyes.

yeah christie might be right, besides, HALF of the body of obito is crushed right? and thats include his sharingan. he did ask kakashi to use his other sharingan so that made obito have no more sharingan (EYES IS MORE ACCURATE)

To add to what Christie said Obito could be a possibility because he was able to obtain the sharingan and maybe he was limited to dead bodies or needed someone with the sharigan so he could work his way from their I dont support this theory and believe it to be highly unlikely but i just wanted to put my opinon out their but in the end i think that things will be alot clearer (or more complicated (i hope not)) when we find out the identity of Pain or in the next issue as we saw in the end he was taking off his mask so NEXT ISSUE BABY!!!!!!
