Summary:

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (ひぐらしのなく頃に, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni? ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) lit. When Cicadas ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) Cry) is a Japanese ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) murder mystery ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) dōjin soft ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) visual novel ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) series based on the NScripter ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) engine, produced by 07th Expansion ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). The series is focused on a group of young friends and the strange events that occur in the village that they live in. The first game in the series, Onikakushi-hen ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), was released on August 10 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), 2002 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and the eighth and final game in the original PC ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) series, Matsuribayashi-hen ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), was released on August 13 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), 2006 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). In addition to the original series, new arcs have been created in manga ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) form and in video games ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) for the PlayStation 2 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and Nintendo DS ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) in order to expand upon the story further.
The series became very popular and was made into a set of drama CDs; the first, based on the Onikakushi-hen part of the story, was released on in May 2005.[1] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-wayuta-drama-CDs-0) A manga ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) series adapted from the games began with seven different manga artists ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) working separately on one to three of the multiple story arcs, and is published by Square Enix ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and Kadokawa Shoten ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). The manga was licensed for release in English in North America ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) by Yen Press ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) under the title Higurashi When They Cry and will release the first volume in November 2008. Following the manga's release in Japan, two anime series have been produced by the Japanese animation studio Studio Deen ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) in 2006 and 2007; a third anime adaptation, which will be released as an original video animation ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) series, has been confirmed for December 2008 and is directed by Toshifumi Kawase.[2] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-ANN-anime-3-1)[3] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-ANN-Rei-news-2)[4] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-Rei-news-2-3) The first anime series was licensed by Geneon ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) in English under the title When They Cry - Higurashi,[5] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-license-4) but became unavailable due to Geneon decision to stop sales and distribution in the American anime market. On July 3 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), 2008 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Geneon Entertainment and Funimation Entertainment announced an agreement to distribute select titles in North America, which includes Higurashi.[6] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-Fun-Gen-5) A live action movie adaptation of the series, directed by Ataru Oikawa, premiered in Japanese theaters on in May 2008,[7] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-movie-6) with a sequel forthcoming.
The word higurashi is the name of a kind of cicada.[8] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-7) Naku can mean "to make sound" (鳴く, "to make sound"? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])), specifically referring to those sounds made by non-human organisms, or "to weep" (泣く, "to weep"? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])). It so happens that the English ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) verb "to cry" carries the same double meaning as naku. According to the original creator, Ryukishi07 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), the red Na (な) in the logo is an official part of the title.[9] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-8)

This series IS SUBBED! The subtitles are separate, however; use a program like VLC Media Player or another program that can take the subtitles from the video. I haven't gotten the subs to work on Realplayer or Windows media Player, but I won't say it's impossible. The files total in at 3.42GB and there are 24 episodes total.
