I remember when I would listen to rap and rock and be criticized at school for it because it was "devils music" and "White peoples music" and recently there are up-stirrings of violent children. Their violence is blamed on the music that they listen to. I was in church and I remember that many times the preacher would say "Rock'n roll spouts only violence and is the devils music" ( laughed my ass of and walked out )
What are your biased opinions? Do you think that in general all rock'n roll is the devil's music ( this is a big contradiction towards Christian rock bands, by the way.. ) or does it have a direct effect on the way a child acts?
Does it affect the way that you act?

lol had the same experience on my first day of high school
well music did change the way i think, but the way i act dont think so
it all depends how do you get the music vibes and lyrics (most of people who listen to rock and metal) think its cool cause its "satanic" (dumb kids i say)
come on drop the shit.....music does not have anything to do with satan or whatever

See that's ridiculous. I hate that. There are only two bands in the world that I absolutely can not stand (that I've encountered at any rate) but I'm not going to beat someone if they like them. It's their opinion and such.
As for music being (in particular rock/metal) the devils music people like that are part of what's wrong with the world. I mean heck there's christian metal! Besides a good portion of music obviously is not "satanism" unless these people consider unrelgious type of music satanism. lol this type of thing aggravates me to no end -.-;;

Ok I like a very biased music and that Horrorcore bands in them Insane Clown Posse
Everyone hates them just because they dress like clowns, so what, and if someone kills some one. "OOOHH ICP raps about killing even thou they say they dont condone it there the problem"
Anyone who kills someone and they say its because of a band, must have real problems with there head and probably would've done it with out the music.
Thats my oppnion.

unless these people consider unrelgious type of music satanism.
Anyone who thinks that wouldn't have any understanding for what satanism would be. Satanism is more of a religious thing than anything that is without religion or non-christian music. If anything satanism is more of a pro-belief-in-god thing. That is because satanism is about the devil and if you believe in the devil you also believe in god.
So a song without god(or non Christian music) would have absolutely nothing to do with satanism and instead less satanic than christian music :XD: . Meaning, unless a song directly says something about satanism, anyone who says it's satanic is a complete idiot and has no idea what they are talking about.:furious2:
Basically what I mean is.. If a band says nothing about religion, to assume it is of the satanistic religion is going an extra step into the assumption. And it is much more reasonable to assume they are an atheist or agnostic band because nothing having to do with religion was brought into it.

yeah, the problem is that I have no doubt that there are masses of people who are just plain nuts. I'm talking about the people who think harry potter is a work of satanism, pokemon was evil trying to convert our kids etc. Unfortunately there seems to be more of these people than there should be

There are many forms of satanism, and the irony in calling something "Satanist" is that there is no closer religion to God than Satanism. What I mean by different forms-take an example, as accidental as it may be; Led Zeppelin "Stairway to heaven" playing that song backwards results in Page singing about "Satan"
People and their ignorance, not all, but a lot of the general population tend to blame their mistake on music, so why not religion as well?

Biased music opinions?
I've got some about mainstream/modern day rock and rap.
Most modern day rap is based around the subjects of violence, sex and material posessions. I believe that the young people of my generation are heavily influenced because of this and is responsible for the increase in crime.
And about modern day rock, when someone says they like punk, the first thing that comes to mind is "emo". I don't really get that though, but it is true that the mainstream is dominated by punk/emo, so it's easy to assume things. Today's lyrical compositions can't be compared to the oldies from Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer etc. I find that most of these modern bands write about is personal problems and how bad their life is, in contrast to the bands before, writing about religion and politics.
Modern day guitarists from bands like Green Day couldn't come up with good solos if their life depended on it. Those are my opinions.

I have been criticized over my main choice of music a few times but i don't care what anyone says tbh.
Everyone has their own taste in music, not everybody is into the common types ;)
My music of choice is happy hardcore and j-core but i will and do listen to anything from j-pop to metal,if i like the sound.
I dont like rap that much anymore due to the influences and followings it creates
well more like i don't like the people who take influence in it and try to act gangsta or whatever if you get what i mean.
i still very occasionally listen to some though.

Oh come on. Music CAN change the way you act. But it's YOU who know the best that the changes are in a good way or bad way. I listen to heavy metal and I'm more aggressive after that, but I don't feel it is bad, because I LIKE IT. They can say it's violent, and it's shit. I like it and I will listen to it, because you have no right to say what I must do.

i never think that its the music that changes people. its more of what the message that is conveyed by the music. and then there was ideology that is associated with the music. imo, music is art. it should stay as art. as the listeners, we are the evaluators of art. good or bad, it is us who will decide.
honestly, i listen to most (if not all) genres out there. i dont have a favored genre. i just listen to what good to me at the time.

Does it affect the way that you act?
1) Rock and Roll (and rap) is not the devil's music
2) The Devil (and God for that matter) don't exist anyways
3) If the Devil did exist though, it would probably be elevator music playing down there
4) Music will affect the way you feel about things, but no there's no direct effect (the same with violent video games, movies, tv, and books)

I don't think music, like death metal, influences how I act...I can see that maybe to some people, like real young kids...it would probably influence them to do things that a kid their age wouldn't normally think of. This is more-so with death metal though...I don't see how any lyrics from bands like Metallica, Pantera, or even Marilyn Manson can influence a kid to do violent things. (Maybe be depressed in Manson's case.)
But of course, the parents don't know any different...think it's all the same, 'cause they really don't know...don't take the time to know...but IMO, there's a big difference in lyrics like Metallica's "Enter Sandman" and from Cannibal Corpse's "I Cum Blood".

music affects the way i act yea. but only while i'm listening to it. like if i'm listening to classical music it makes me more relaxed. rock music gets me pumped for when i work out. and dance music, well it makes me want to dance... but i mean i've never listened to "angry" music and suddenly think OMG i need to kill someone RIGHT NOW. i mean come on.... how does that even work?

I always figured it's simple. People with particular leanings gravitate towards certain things. If a kid is raised thinking that rock 'n' roll is evil, when he wants to rebel, he's going to go to it. If he REALLY wants to rebel, he's going to intentionally try to make it seem more evil. That just fuels the next generation of morons pointing to HIM and saying it's evil, and so on and so forth.
Even if there are a lot of people who genuinely like thrash, speed metal, or what have you - just because they really like it musically, you can't deny that there'll also be people who come to it specifically BECAUSE they've been told that it was evil, and really want that to be true. It's sort of a self-fulfilling thing.
Music doesn't make people become evil - but certain types of music will hold a special attraction for people who are already inclined to behave in a certain way.

don't believe in the devil, so i can't belive that it's his/her music cause they don't exist to me.
Rock is just good music plain and simple.
Same with rap =p
I believe that music does influence how you behave, however not directly, as music can change your mood for better or worse, so when someone tells me music can make people violent, I say yes it can, however I would also say that music can also make people less violent , genre of the music has very little to do with what effect it has on everyone, just what effect it has on individuals

Well, modern day Satanism is certainly not what you describe here. Modern day Satanism is a selfish hedomism that focuses on the individual as more important than anytihng else, and present pleasure as solely important. At least, that is what the Church of Satan stands for. They openly state they do not believe in or serve Satan; they merely want to be the opposite of what the Christian church stands for.
Now, there are some people who would hold that the words are irrelevant, that the music itself is evil. You know, the people who were parents in the 70's. :lols: Anyway,Satanism is a term thrown around by a lot of people today, but just because a person invokes the name of the devil or advocates sin does not make them a Satanist. Satanists of today are largely people who don't want to accept any outside authority and please themselved in the utmost. Now, Satanism of Biblical times is another issue!
As to my views on music, I would say that most claims of Satanism or evil in music are ridiculous. I'm surprised that people can still jump on metal for that, but they do. Most of the early claims of Satanism in metal were unfounded. The only musician I can think of who comes close to being a "Satanist" would have ot be Marilyn Manson, as he is very open in his hate for the Church and Christianity. Even then, he tends to mix his stage persona into his real life a little too much, so it's not always obvious when he's putting on a show or not. Personally, I just don't feel the day is complete until I listen to Slayer. Fun fact: Thier lead singer, Tom Araya, is actually a devout Roman Catholic.
