I was suprised to see that there was no thred for this already. It is my absolute favorite anime or very close to it (Its tied with Trigun I think) So i decided to make this thread for people to talk about it. Btw Spike is one of my favorite charicters of all time.

I am going to have to cosign, because this was the first serious anime I got into. Spike's the type of guy who knows what he has to do, and just does it. I loved it from the story to the music but haven't found one quite like it. First saw it in 05 and still watch episodes.

Agreed. I do believe that bebop is one series responsible for bringing a lot of older people into anime...I know that if I had been in high school or later, DBZ wouldn't have appealed to me as much as it did in 7th-8th grade.

I'm probably going to get a lot of shit for this, but I really didn't think it was that great. I finally saw it after so many people told me to, and I just thought it was not as great as it was hyped to be. Oh well.

Different people different taste
This is also my most favorite show, have been re-watching this every year since 2000 and no sign of bored of it yet^^
The animation, the story, the characters, the setting(cowboy in space, awesome idea)
And the director really knows how to tell a story

thats so true, i remember i was watching it on adult swim a long time ago and my dad (who was about 48 at the time) was like, "this is pretty good" and ended up watching most of the series.

Cowboy Bebop is awesome and i like it how its for mature audiences, not like Rated R or anything, but you have to be pretty mature to understand what is going. Or at least that's what im thinking XP.

it's starting to re-air on adult swim, i've only watched a few episodes but it seems pretty interesting, i've seen an episode where they find a bag full of magic mushrooms, and they end up getting "High". It was pretty strange, but funny. I think i'm going to watch the series from now on.

Cowboy Bebop was really cool. Especially the soundtrack was godly.
Just one person i didn't like and that is Ed. She was so annoying in my opinion.

one of my favourite anime shows, the music just goes with the flow of everything, brilliantly dubbed. the best dubbing of an anime i have expirienced. 9/10
samurai champloo was directed by the same guy and i also loved that, dubbing aswell. its about "samurais" though so if you like bebop just coz its futuristic then.
spike > mugen.

The dubbed version of this anime is the best!

1999 was a good time for anime - nowdays Japan mostly produces c**p animations.
The plot, gfx, music - everything was really good in Cowboy Bebop.

Best anime series ever! Has depth and also isn't always so serious about itself.

Besides the series, has anyone watched the movie? Knocking on Heaven's Door is the title, I believe.

....it took me some time to finish it...the reason , kindda simple , i got bored [now i'm wondering htf could i?] and let the best part unwatched.
What made me finished it? one of my Cowboy Bebop maniac friends came and put a video on youtube with the song Blue , no one can resist that song and that's how i decided i have to finish it.
In my point of view, C.B. it's not really for youngers , [probably i , myself was too young the 1st time and couldn't taste the real taste of this anime , not to mention about understanding it] , the theme was interesting and each character was nicely created.
As for the ending...hmm everyone undersands what he/she wants , but i like what Watanabe siad :
"I've never officially said that he died. At this point, I can tell you that I'm not sure if he's alive or dead."
I like sad endings and think that Spike might have died there , but if he did then Faye and Jet would get kindda lonely. Making the ending like that , Watanabe lets the fans take the decision of Spike's life..pretty interesting and the reasons each person chooses and ending are various...

Cowboy Bebop was a badass anime. Intense ending, awesome soundtrack. What made it so unique was the genre blending the director (Shinichiro Watanabe) incorporated. His unique style can also be seen on his subsequent work, Samurai Champloo.
All in all, quality stuff!

If there is a definitive artistic masterpiece among anime, it would have to be this one. I'm blown away every time I see the level of detail in the artwork and animation. It's dripping with style and great sense of humor throughout the whole story. In fact, I think I'm gonna go rewatch it sometime soon. It's been awhile.

I aboslutely LOVE Cowboy Bebop. Own it all on DVD inc. the film and I have to completely agree with what you're all saying about music, artwork and the ending...
And now my question is: Is Trigun really any good? It's been recommended to me (then again a lot of anime has been recommended to me) and I've never given it a go.

This is one of two animes that made me cry (School Days being the other) and that was when Ein and Ed left. Loved all the characters for their lovable and annoying traits. This is defiantly a more mature anime to watch and the artistic style and opening songs are good

This is what i found on wikipedia:
Live-action movie
On July 22 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), 2008 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), IF Magazine published an article on its website regarding a rumor of a live-action Cowboy Bebop movie that is in development by 20th Century Fox ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). Producer Erwin Stoff ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) said that the film's development was in the early stages, and that they had "just signed it".[10] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-9)[11] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-10) Keanu Reeves ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) has been confirmed as playing the role of Spike Spiegel.[12] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-11)[13] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-12) It has also been confirmed through Variety in a January 15, 2009 article, that the production company, Sunrise, Inc., will be "closely involved with the development of the English language project" and that Kenji Uchida, Shinichiro Watanabe, and series writer Keiko Nobumoto has been confirmed to be associate producers and that series producer Masahiko Minami has been confirmed as a production consultant. Variety also confirms that Peter Craig is currently attached as screenwriter.[14] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]_note-13)
SO there may actually be a movie, but i hope they dont make it into a live action movie because the animation style is so good and why try to ruin it in any way. The series itself was truly amazing and opened up my world of anime and the movie as well. The characters were all easy to fall in love with and the story was humorous/thrilling/dramatic/romantic.
