Run lot do sit ups push ups ect..., that's my medicine for weight... at least that's how i keep my weight. Since i love to eat and wont eat less cause other woman's do.
If you are not used to run, then slowly increase the time you run not immediately a long run, and put some warming up in before it and cooling down after it. Maybe run to a location do exercises on that location (push up sit up ect) running back from there...
Maybe only me but after running it was always good for me to exercise a little. Not to mention i tyre different parts of my body whit running and whit exercises.

Maybe you were running too fast... Try to slow down a bit, you can just walk as much as possible for the first times, then, when you're used to, you can gradually raise you speed. For the motivation, the best one I can give you is to start practising a sport that you like, it usually works...
For the diet, try to eat less high-calorific food and replace them with vegetables and fruits. Try to not eat anything outside the main meals and you'll surely start to lose some weight.

depends on what you want you just want to be skinny or you want a show off body.....they both different things you can just get those pounds off and look normal with some minor muscle(athletic body) or you can just mark yourself(this is the show off body)
for the athletic body is easy just keep a 2000-2500(depends on your overweight if you are more than 20 pounds go for 1500) calorie diet(you need to drop those munchies and cola)
first you need to work your stamina and your legs because you will be mostly doing "cardio" for starters start running 20 min(slow pace) and 5-10( onfast pace depends on how tired min on fast pace after the 20) after that lets start with 20 push ups well done push ups all down then up, those will improve your arms now for the abdominal excercise turn around all your body to the left then to right is very simple but it hurts after awhile you can do of this about 5 min if you feel you want more then do more then lay down on your back and start touching the feet with your fingers do 30 of those.
let me warn you before you start anything you wont see ANY NOTABLE result until at least the month or 2 months depends on how fast and how you much spirit you put on it.
also please do eat less lol if you the menu i just told you eating a lot there is a chance you will make huge muscles for the show off body i cant help you there......never tried it also the menu will grown overtime...so extend it to double or triple of what is written there.
if you are TOO overweight just do running until you lose a good ammount then start to building your body.

first things first, if you want to loose weight, get your eating habbits in check. trying to exercise that extra weight off is pointless if you dont eat right. reducing your daily calorie intake will help you loose weight. once you get that diet in gear, go burn off the excess calories by jogging or running. this should be enough to help you shed off some extra pounds. i know it works because i do this. and still do ! good luck :)

as they said you don't have to eat less to lose weight just eat an equilibrate meal and do some fitness or sportive activity the week-end (like a good jogging at your own pace) and it will be very effective

The average Human body consumes approx. 2000 calories a day, this is your baseline. So, regardless of what you are doing (diet or exercise) your body consumes 2000 calories.
This creates and equation Calories In = Calories Out
Your calories out starts at 2000 and your calories in starts at 0 (for the beginning of the day).
Everything you eat increases calories in, every bit of exercise you do increases calories out. At the end of the day if Calories in > Calories out you gain wait. If Calories in = Calories out you maintain your weight and if Calories in < Calories out you lose weight.
To lose 1 lb you need to have a deficit of 3500 calories. Obviously you're not going to do it in one day (in fact it's even hard to achieve this in 1 week).
So yes, exercise. Try to start out slowly and build your way up. Even start with walking. I recomend finding a Yoga class, as it will ballance out all of the stress (muscle and joint tension) caused by running. Also look into minor weight training. Use household objects (text books are good), and go on the internet and look for good exercises for different parts of your body.
And cut out junk food. 1 snack size bag of chips can have over 600 calories. A Big Mac has 704. In fact avoid fast food like the plague (the average meal at the golden armpits can easily be over half your daily usage). Many meals in restaurants (because of the way the cook it, but also because the portions are so big) can have in excess of 2000 calories (for one meal).
You don't need to count calories and keep a journal or anything. And if you start trying to figure out the calories in a banana and how much jogging you need to burn off the banana you've got an eating disorder. But it helps to have a general idea of what's going in and what's being used.
First, if You don't mind, please tell us Your height, weight and age.
Second, if You want to lose weight the best way is to do sports and eat 'correctly'. You don't really need to go on a diet. Just eat so much that it'll satisfy Your hunger. Most people tend to eat more than this. A little change in Your diet could be useful too, like the abovementioned vegetables, no sweets etc.
And running isn't necessary. You can do any other sport, it doesn't matter when You want to lose weight, altough running has other benefits too.

Swimming is also really good (is something I have heard)...
And if everything else fails... Get a girlfriendboyfriend and just enjoy allot of sex :) That could be a good workout :twinkle:
Yes, swimming is the same as running. Well, almost. Maybe it's a bit more 'healthy'.
Sex is also a good way and it can replace sports, but then, you need to do it often. ;)
(Which isn't really a problem. That is, if you have a partner. ^^)

Umm...I think this is a girl and not a guy @[Only registered and activated users can see links] I'm wrong then I'm just an idiot lol
You're right about the swimming though, it tones all the muscles in your body so it's like doing push-ups, sit-ups and stuff all at once! Well...that's IF you know how to swim -_-;
I would just go with the no fast-food/sweets and become active every day = / Sounds fake, but I lost 10 pounds in about 1 month like that @_@ (Yeah...it's slow lol)
*ahem* Guess I was a few mins late for this reply haha the net shut down after I clicked post on it and it just went back up @_@

Diet is such a misleading word. Eating right is more proper. Before I started the diet I' doing now I used to eat only a snack in the morning and something in the evening (which unfortunately was usually fast food or something equally bad). I gained a lot of pounds even though I didn't really eat that much. Now I'm eating 6-7 times a day and I lost 10 pounds in just 7 days.
As for exercise, you did the right choice walking instead of running (walking for an hour burns about 400cals when running for say 20mins doesn't even burn half of that).

I think the best thing to do is just get used to a slightly more vigorous lifestyle and a slightly more healthy diet. Sudden phases of radical change generally don't have any lasting effect. I really don't think you need to lose 20 pounds just to gain confidence, since you aren't even really overweight to begin with, so you don't need any drastic measures that would alter your lifestyle too much. As long as you find what fits your lifestyle and lose some weight, and you're comfortable with that, I would say you've succeeded.

the advices are pretty much the same so now you know what to do ( and yes walking for an hour is less tiring make you lose more calories and you can enjoy your walk ^^)
Haai >.<~ im 162 cm ~ age 17 and 135 lbs ToT
This is why I asked You that. You're weight is absolutely normal.
But I know that almost everyone is dissatisfied with herself/himself. If You really want to lose weight that badly, You should simply follow the advices above, but please note two things. Losing 20 pounds (in Your case) is very extreme and unhealthy. This kind of thing (going on a diet) requires a change in Your lifestyle.
Running and swimming builds stamina. Unfortunately you can't lose weight from a specific part of your body, so any sport will do.

when u grow taller and stuff yur weight gets higher so it can fit ur age weight

Thanks Everyone :]~ thing is i dont' seem to be gettin any taller >_<!! all my cousins are younger than me are all taller than me ToT~~ !! Ive been eatin more healthy and i walk every day for 1 hour >_<~ but how come walking burns more calories o.o .~ my bros gf told me to walk but i don't really get it xD~ .. since alot of people tell me to run instead (besides u guys )
You may grow a little more, but not much that's true. Still Your weight is normal.
Walking or running. Running for a short time consumes little energy, but makes You tired fast. Walking for a long time is more energy consuming, but it's not that tiring, because, well, This how the muscles work in Your leg when walking.
The best would be to build up Your stamina and run for a relatively long time. This is the best for Your health (and Your weight). If You decide to do tthis, remember that it's not the speed that matters. Run with a speed You can keep running for long. But don't be too slow. :P As You grow accostumed to running You can increase the running time and speed.
Good luck! :)

Being a little overweight is fine. But your BMI is what you should be looking at, if your too big for your BMI then take the necessary steps to lose some weight.

join my weight lost program and you'll be as thin as a stick.
I have been fasting ever since high school. I don't pack lunch and do not eat breakfast. I am too lazy to wake up early to make breakfast. My only meal is dinner each day until i graduated from college. Right now, I am able to eat lunch and dinner lol. When I retired, I will be able to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner.
And I'll bet you're none too healthy

CRIPES. You are NOT overweight. PLEASE stop letting your
peers affect how you think about yourself, or make
you think you should 'look a certain way.' That's them,
you are you.
This is why I asked You that. You're weight is absolutely normal.
But I know that almost everyone is dissatisfied with herself/himself. If You really want to lose weight that badly, You should simply follow the advices above, but please note two things. DDv has been onto something with you Queenie from the get
go and it's weird that we're now 2 guys giving 'advice'in a
'Ask A Girl' forum but whatever...your thread and
what I know is probably happening with you in life really aggrevates
me to no end. And not just with you but with a lot of girls who
I know are going through the same shit.
As DDv mentioned, if you're not seeing yourself the way you
want, the only thing we can say to you whether you actually
take action or not, is to mentally start seeing yourself eating
differently....for starters.
After reading this thread the first things that came to mind,
that would easily help you with this were:
NutriSystem ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
and
P90 Workout (A 90 Day Program that WILL change you) ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
You're only 17 and you've still got a good 6-7 years before
your body really stops changing on it's own. The links I put up
above are something that both me and my g/f use and the one I
wanted to stress more than the other was the NutriSystem Plan.
With the plan, you choose what pre-packaged meals you want to
get from them, and while you're eating what they send to you---
you're losing weight. And what DDv was saying about most diets
being lifestyle alterations is true, which is why they don't work
for most people. Nutrisystem only has you eating regularly (not
irregularly) with foods that are what you should be intaking at your
height/age (carbohydrates and the right amounts of protein and fiber,
yet it is still low in fat) level while maintaining your hunger levels.
The P90 Workout was (what I think/know) a great follow up to
that because you're strength training which IMMEDIATELY increases
your stamina, immune system, cardio, and sustained energy
levels thoughout everyday.
I'm hoping that maybe you have a part time job or something
already because I HIGHLY recommend these ideas to you. Take
action girl, do your damndest to ignore what your peers might
say, because being healthy and energetic not only feels awesome,
suddenly you're looking awesome too.
*edit* If you didn't know this already, you should know
that animalistically, all men prefer a women with curves, AKA,
child-bearing hips, AKA, shape---*ahem*---this means:
NO SKINNY MINNIES. LOL
Peace.

Amen, DualFace.
~~~
You're certainly NOT over weight.
Losing twenty pounds, with your stats, wouldn't be the healthiest choice for you.
If you want to become a more active person, set up a routine that works best for you & and has about equal amounts of cardio & light weight training in order to be fit.
And if this is indeed your goal, don't think of it as 'dieting' if you change your eating habits, you're simply eating healthier because from the sounds of it you don't need to lose any weight.
And keep in mind that everyone is built differently -- there are people that are naturally stocky, average or beanpole skinny, since we're all different we have different shapes & metabolisms. Being stick-skinny is not as glamorous as The Hills n' other crap make it out to be.
I know it can be rough sometimes as it seems like there is so much pressure to try to fit in the super-skinny mold ('cause we ladies see it all over TV & Magazines) and it is just plain stupid.
If you want to make changes in your life habits that is great -- but only make them if you have your health & well-being at top priority, not anything based on forms of peer-pressure or for vanity.
As for making active choices - good luck.
I hope you have more confidence in yourself & ignore those who would be jealous jerks of normal figured people.
**You know they are! They wouldn't be that way if they weren't ;)
Stay strong
I'd just like to say something. No one has said straight out that you should look how you want to look, not others want you to look. They've said peer pressure and shit, but that's not all. Plain and simple, look at yourself in the mirror, think hard, do like what you see or not. If not, think why, then do what you need to. If you don't really have any problems with your look, leave it, stay how you are. As mentioned a fair bit, YOU'RE NOT OVERWEIGHT!!! Final comment; like yourself before you get others to like you.
Sorry if I got carried away. I just don't believe in beauty being everything. Personality, Quirks and then Body. Hope I helped someone at least, even if not myself.
