Wow.....This manga series was absolutely amazing. :twinkle: I thought that i wouldn't like it in the beginning because it looked just like every other romantic story, but it isn't. I also thought that the story would revolve around track and field, but i was also wrong on that issue. Track and field is just a sub plot for the story. The story actually revolves around a romance between a high jumper that is a girl and a 100m runner that that is a guy. The plot was thick with twists and turns and right when you though that it was the end or thought that you knew what was going to happen, it goes in another direction. I don't usually read romance drama, but this had it all. There was some ecchi scenes in each volume, plus some comedy along with the expected dose of romance, drama and sports. I would recommend this manga to anyone. I would say that it appeals to almost all people. That is unless you are a thick headed person that does not like to experience change every once in a while.

I actually just finished reading the series just now and could not hold in my excitement. I just wanted to tell everyone about this manga. I do know that this manga is nothing new and it has been around for a few years, but it is definitely worth looking into.

This manga was also turned into a 26 episode anime in 2005. I did not bother watching it because it has been dubbed in english and i think that ruins the show and it is under FUNimation. I also don't see how the show could be any better than the manga because the manga was just absolutely awesome, but if you are interested you can check it out.

Below is a spoiler for the people that would like to know the beginning of the plot for the series. The spoiler does not contain everything, but does give away some of the first few volumes. Don't worry though, there are 18 volumes (166 chapters) total, so there is plenty to read.

Anyway, thanks for listening to me rant on about this awesome manga series. Once again i would recommend this series to everyone. In my opinion i would call it a classic and must read even though it is not so old. And take my advice to heart. I have seen a lot and i mean a lot of animes and have read a fair number of manga, so my advice is legit. If you have questions or just want to chat outside this post, just pm me anytime.

This series begins with a young freshman in high school moving from a rural area to the city of Tokyo. When he is walking to his aunts apartment complex, he see a beautiful girl high jumping by the school he will attend. From that moment on, he falls in love with her. He then finds out that she is actually his neighbor, but they start out on the wrong footing and only argue. Later on he is able to ask her out to an amusement park after he gets friendly with her. She except and they go. After a long day of rides, they go to the parade at the park and stare up at the fireworks. It is then that the boy confesses his love to the girl. Unfortunately for him though, she rejects him. Later on they finally get back to a casual friend relationship and they go out again. The boy takes her to a bridge near his house where there are fireflys at night and special flowers. He confesses to her again, but is again turned down. This leaves him in a terrible slump. Later on again in the story, he confesses to her again under different pretexts after a kiss and she finally excepts. Now they begin to date each other, but what lies for them in the future? Will this relationship work or is it doomed to fail? That is what the rest of the volumes in the story are about. I guess you will have to read the series to find out. I recommend it. :41:

It definitely was a great manga to read. First one I read and still my favorite to this day.

The Anime was good too, but it only covers about the first third or so of the manga's story (roughly...), I'm know there's a subbed version lying around somewhere you could get your hands on if you're interested. It was pretty faithful to the manga anyway so its not like you're missing out on anything.

I'd definitely recommend this manga as well.

I've only seen the anime but it seemed interesting enough...so I guess I'll give the manga a go soon.

truth tvesrb, manga > anime :P no1 kill me for that statement. Suzuka was good i guess, but did anyone feel cheated at the end? i mean seriously...what an ending...

*possible spoiler but i dun think so*

i really hated it how it didn't end like a fairy tale, ok so i'm not a kid or anything but i still like my fairy tale endings to romance stories... i think it drew too much from what a real life situation would be like. It kinda reminds me of when reading Adachi Mitsuru manga, how the protagonist doesn't always win. It pains me when i see the main character sad :P. *hypersensitive* lol

Well the manga was much better, i agree with ya on that.

Aydz, i also agree with ya that the ending sort of left you with a little empty feeling, but in the end the protagonist sort of came out the way he wanted. I mean, it wasn't quite what i wanted to see either, but i was fairly satisfied at the end. At least there were no loose ends at the end of the manga. Everything rapped up fairly well.

I also have to agree that even though it was not the first manga that i read, it is definitely on of my favorite. At least in the top three. ;P
