After I read that part I never got into the anime again. Not only the plot of Naruto became dead serious, they killed the only character that you could rely on delivering some humor. It's one of the few times that I hope they pull a cheap trick to revive him (even if they found the 7 dragonballs I wouldn't mind). They also killed the smoking dude (I forgot his name). I mean WTF man? We tolerate so many fillers, we swallow the change in the mood of the manga/anime but killing with no real reason such excellently written characters is just unforgivable.

We can hope Jiraiya is not dead right? Because to be honest, I was so heartbroken since he was a favorite, no, the favorite character of mine in Naruto. I thought his being the author of ecchi was so cool (though I'd have liked to show him better smut than his ;D ohbby). It seems a shame that now all these great characters are dying. Asuma, Itachi, Jiraiya.. all these great characters that are all now dead. I think the worst of it is that they all happened so closely together that as fans we weren't ready to deal with the deaths of major characters. Asuma provided the much needed cool factor. Itachi was the friggin driving force of the plot! Jiraiya provided the much needed humor...

With that, I honestly hope Jiraiya is not dead.

I hated when Jiraya died, I just knew something was going to happen when he was in that long fight with Pain. The fight was awesome we got to see jiraya at his best, it would have bee even better if he had not died. I almost cried when they told Naruto. I can't wait to find out what the meaning of destine child.

His death does suck, but if he was revived by some cheap plot device, it would make his death meaningless. His death is what allows naruto to grow up a bit more.

Say it ain't so Naruto!!! I still holding hope that he i still alive. Until they provide Konoha with the body and Tsunade examined the body and pronounce him dead, I will still hold on to hope that he is alive. He was close to death when he sent the messenger to konoha, So in my estimate nobody really saw he dead. Who knows maybe he plans to move around and investigate more freely with both sides believing he is dead.
