Plot
The story is about Rito Yūki, a high-school boy who cannot confess to the girl of his dreams, Haruna Sairenji. One day when coming home and sulking in the bath-tub a mysterious, nude girl, appears out of nowhere. Her name is Lala and she comes from the planet Deviluke, where she is the heir to the throne. Her father wants her to return to her home planet so she can marry one of the husband candidates, but she decides that she wants to marry Rito in order to stay on Earth. Commander Zastin has been ordered to bring Lala back and has already battled Rito. He reports to the emperor that Rito would be suited to marry Lala, after hearing Rito say that marriage is impossible unless it is with the person you love (Rito was actually defending himself but Zastin and Lala thought he was defending Lala). With this speech, Lala truly falls in love with Rito and decides that she wants to marry Rito. Her father decides that, if Rito is able to protect Lala from her fiances, then he can marry her, but if Rito cannot protect Lala from her other fiances and meet up to the king's expectations, Lala's father will kill Rito and destroy Earth.
To Love-Ru characters
Lala Satalin Deviluke (ララ・サタリン・デビルーク, Rara Satarin Debirūku? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Haruka Tomatsu ([Only registered and activated users can see links])The female protaginist. Lala is the princess of Deviluke. Ran away from home so she doesn't have to get married. Uses many self-made inventions. At first she was pretending to love Rito to keep from getting married, but eventually she fell in love with him. Lala isn't shy at all. In fact, she doesn't care if she gets naked in front of Rito. She has physical abilities far beyond that of a human and also has a distinctive tail coming from her back (which is very sensitive. In the recent chapters of the manga, it is shown that her tail is capable of firing a destructive beam). Because of her sensitive tail, her friends nickname it as her "Weakness". (Which causes them to tease her tail every now and then, much to her dismay.) According to Ringo Yūki (Rito's mother) in Chapter 60, Lala's measurements are the following: B:(Breast) 89. W: (Waist) 57. H: (Hips) 87.
Rito Yuuki (結城 リト, Yūki Rito? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Akeno Watanabe ([Only registered and activated users can see links])The male protaginist. A 15 years old high-school student who has a big crush on Haruna Sairenji. His father is a manga writer and is very different from Rito in both looks and personality. Rito's mother is a fashion designer and a scout for models who is often away from home; he seems to take after her in looks, though her personality is equally as odd as her husband's as she has a tendency to start sizing women up with her hands. Rito used to be on the soccer team in junior high, but he quit because he was constantly helping his father with manga. His younger sister Mikan comments he's very good at "useless little things" like crane games. Rito shows signs of developing deeper feelings to Lala throughout the story. This is shown when Rito desperately attempted to capture the pervert who was planning on taking pictures of Lala and Haruna Sairenji. (Although the only reason the pervert was caught was because of Rito's bad luck taking a turn for the good side momentarily.), and when he searched for a whole day (and night) for Lala when she went to Haruna's hose. (because Rito yelled at her.) Haruna Sairenji (西連寺 春菜, Sairenji Haruna? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Sayuri Yahagi ([Only registered and activated users can see links])One of Rito's school mates and object of Rito's affection. Haruna has similar feelings for Rito. She lives with her older sister in an apartment and has a severe fear of ghosts and supernatural things. When frightened, she has a habit of grabbing Rito and using him to bat away whatever is scaring her. She seems to be developing feelings for Rito, only she doesn't know it yet. Towards the end of chapter 84, Haruna grabbed Rito right as he was about to leave and asked him not to go. It is unknown if she meant this in any romantic way. Also, she stated it 'feels good to have him like this'. (When she was clinging to his back.) Golden Darkness (金色の闇, Konjiki no Yami? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Misato Fukuen ([Only registered and activated users can see links])Called Yami-chan by Lala; an assassin who does not show a lot of emotion, hired by Lala's fiance candidate Lacospo (ラコスポ, Rakosupo? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])). A running gag in the series often finds Rito accidentally groping her as a result of some other incident. Since she has stated that she hates "ecchi ([Only registered and activated users can see links])" people, this results in Rito getting beaten up. Recently, she is suspected to have developed some slight feelings for Rito and seems to refrain from attacking him with her ability to transform her hair into pointed objects, so that she doesn't kill him. (Although she does this with the perverted principle of Rito's school on rare occasions.) Instead, she substitutes with a large metal fist. She likes Earth clothes & food. She also appears to have grown a very strong liking to Taiyaki as she hints that it is the only thing she's eaten while on Earth; coincidently, or maybe not, when Rito and Yami first encountered each other, Rito bought her Taiyaki when he noticed she was hungry. In the latest chapter it is hinted that she underwent "reconstructive surgery" though the cause has yet to be mentioned. Of particular note is Yami's similarity to Eve ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) from Black Cat ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) in appearance and ability. The two even share the same voice actress (Misato Fukuen ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) in CD/animated renditions of the Yabuki series. Mikan Yuuki (結城 美柑, Yūki Mikan? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Kana Hanazawa ([Only registered and activated users can see links])Rito's independent and reliable younger sister, Mikan takes care of the house while their parents are away on business. In contrast to her older brother she is very mature for her age and grade though she doesn't hesitate to tease him. She may not show it, but she very deeply cares for Rito, and misses his company and how they used to play together before Lala entered their lives, but Rito manages to cheer her up (with Lala's help). Yui Kotegawa (古手川 唯, Kotegawa Yui? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Kaori Nazuka ([Only registered and activated users can see links])A high-strung girl placed in the same class as Rito, Lala and Haruna in their junior year. She has no tolerance for anythings that she does not consider acceptable behavior. Her haughty opinions, quick temper, and habit of speaking her mind often results in her vocally reprimanding people who are acting 'inappropriately'. She quickly grows annoyed and disgusted by the weirdness and bizarre actions involving her classmates, particularly with regards to Rito and Lala. Unfortunately for Yui, every encounter with Rito usually ends up in a situation that gets her embarrassed. Lately, however, Yui has begun to show feelings for Rito, but something bizarre or weird usually ends up ruining the moment. However, in chapter 86, (Oh my little Sister) Rito saved Yui from being molested by a group of hoodlums, which led to Yui looking at Rito in a different light. Yui even let the fact that Rito 'casually touched her boobs' (When in reality, she fell on him, and ended in one of the many embarrassing situations with each other. Although, she didn't show it.) slide over because she was so happy that Rito saved her. She has recently begun calling Rito with the Japanese suffix "Kun." (She calls him Yuuki-kun.) Oshizu Murasamu (村雨静, Oshizu-Murasame? ([Only registered and activated users can see links]))The ghost of a girl that died in the old abandoned school building 400 years ago. She is sincere, kind, and very curious about the modern world, but has a severe fear of dogs. Since her meeting with Rito and others, she has begun to explore the world outside the old school building. Currently, it is unknown whether or not she has any romantic feelings for Rito. Later on, she finds out about Haruna's crush on Rito when she accidentally possesses Haruna. Due to this encounter, Oshizu becomes very supportive towards cheering Haruna onto confessing her feelings to Rito. Recently in chapter 89, she has "returned" to the living after Mikado sensei made an artificial body for Oshizu. This body has realistic qualities (looking and feeling like an actual body), but Oshizu still doesn't know how to walk properly due to her long time being dead. Also, she sents out massive blasts of mental stress whenever she's frightened and the blasts can cause any nearby objects to blow apart, like Risa's top flying off and flashing Rito. Saki Tenjōin (天条院 沙姫, Tenjōin Saki? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Ayako Kawasumi ([Only registered and activated users can see links])The arrogant queen bee of the school, she consistently tries to one-up Lala only to get herself further embarrassed. Eventually she gains a crush on Zastin only to be horrified at the thought that he is in service to Lala, this however has made her very determined to win his heart at any cost.

Gid Lucione Deviluke (ギド・ルシオン・デビルーク, Gido Rushion Debirūku? ([Only registered and activated users can see links]))King of Deviluke, emperor of the galaxy, and father of Lala. Despite his immense power, he has the physical appearance of a child and is a huge pervert. Lala claims the only reason he wants her to get married is so he can hand over his throne and be free to pursue his perverted hobbies. Zastin (ザスティン, Zasutin? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Takehito Koyasu ([Only registered and activated users can see links])Lala's personal bodyguard and the best swordsman of the planet Deviluke. He is currently Assistant Chief to Rito's father who is a manga writer due to an incident caused by Lala. He bears a passing resemblance to Creed Diskenth from Black Cat ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). Despite his skill with a sword, he has a horrible sense of direction, resulting in him being constantly lost (another running gag in the series). He is often on the receiving end of many negative events or on-goings in the series (such as, all ways being hit by on-coming trains; yet another gag in the series), and seems to have very bad luck, all together. Ryouko Mikado (御門 涼子, Mikado Ryouko? ([Only registered and activated users can see links]))The school doctor who also happens to be alien (she has pointed ears). She dresses rather provocatively even when on the job and helps out aliens on Earth in various manners, usually those dealing with medical care. Saruyama (猿山健一, Saruyama? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Hiroyuki Yoshino ([Only registered and activated users can see links])Perverted male best friend of Rito. Risa Momioka (籾岡 里紗, Risa Momioka? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Ryōka Yuzuki ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and Mio Sawada (沢田 未央, Mio Sawada? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Chiemi Chiba ([Only registered and activated users can see links])Mischievous best friends of Haruna. Risa is known for groping other girl's breasts and has a bit of a resemblance to Saki. Her favorite person to grope is Haruna. Rin Kujō (九条 凛, Rin Kujō? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Mai Hashimoto ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and Aya Fujisaki (藤崎 綾, Aya Fujisaki? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Kaori Mizuhashi ([Only registered and activated users can see links])Saki's loyal and assisting friends. Ren Elsie Jewelria (レン・エルシ・ジュエリア, Ren Erushi Jueria? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])) Voiced by: Fuyuka Ōura ([Only registered and activated users can see links])A childhood friend of Lala, infamously known for wearing girl clothing during his play dates with Lala. At first he arrives on Earth to win back Lala by proving he is "man enough" for her, but soon becomes jealous due to her relationship with Rito. Due to his pursuit of Lala, he accidentally gives Rito his first kiss. However, while the male Ren regretted this, it had an unexpected consequence towards his "other side". As Ren is from Planet Memorze (メモルゼ, Memoruze? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])), he can change gender in both mind and body upon sneezing, though they seem to share memories; as a girl she goes by the name Run (ルン, Run? ([Only registered and activated users can see links])). Run is in love with Rito due to the kiss and blames Lala for all her problems, while Ren is in competition (albeit rather one sided) with him for Lala's hand in marriage. Saibai YuukiRito's father and manga artist. He draws at amazing speeds and can be serious at times of work, but seems to have a bit of a goofy side to him as well. Indications are: him making a joke about Rito and Lala "sleeping" together every night and punching Rito when he got drunk and thought Rito was a robber. Ringo YuukiRito's mother and a fashion designer. Normally working overseas, she came back to town in chapter 60 to check up on her family. Ringo seems to take her work very seriously as she almost immediately got into "work-mode" when she saw Lala for the first time. She then left again for work.
Mahou (Magical) Kyoko
A fictional mahou shoujo (magical girl)character who stars in her own TV serial titled after herself. It appears she wields fire magic and her favourite catch phrase at the end of the episode is 'The same for today, we've burned them to the ground!'. The new season of her series is titled 'Mahou Kyoko Flame'. Lala seems to like watching her series and would often force Rito to watch with her. Mahou Kyoko's appearance and powers seem to bear a resemblance to that of Kirisaki Kyoko, a character from another of Kentaro Yabuki's mangas, Black Cat.
