View Full Version : Xbox360? PS3? heekuy 04-06-2012, 07:38 AM Just wanna ask you guys that among the 2 consoles up there you prefer which one. Everyone boys and girls are welcome to answer. :casual: Mucklurker 04-08-2012, 07:32 PM Why do you not consider the Wii? It does have a few good games in its catalog.... :l And....I am for the Wii and PS3. Hinata-Hyuga 04-08-2012, 08:53 PM I have PS3 but ive had an xbox and i prefere playstation, AndrogyneMach 04-09-2012, 02:04 AM Overall, I guess the PlayStation 3. I have both, but I find the interface of the PlayStation 3 much more enjoyable. The XBOX 360 also scares me with the RRoD, though luckily I've never had one. The XBOX 360 is good for Tales of Vesperia and Cave Shooters. MoonLethe 04-09-2012, 02:21 AM PS3 is probably better on how much longer it lasts and how much easier to use to non-technical people (like me!) I have both and I must say that my Xbox burns out every couple months or so. My PS3 has never failed me. Oni_Akuma 04-10-2012, 03:26 AM I have both and I have to say my Moneybox 360 has all but bitten the dust. It's also younger than my PS3 (one of the first generation of PS3s, built like bomb shelters) and my PS3 ha had zero problems in the 4/5 years I've had it. The range of games is better too. All my favourite 360 titles (that I can no longer play because the 360s laser is too fucked) I can now play on my PC whereas the PS3 has standout titles that need to be console played (awesome examples include Yakuza 3, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Disgaea 3). The interface and accessibility of the PS3 put it miles ahead; stick PS3 Media Server on your PC and you complete a home entertainment system. Sony all the way baby. Noctis Caelum 04-12-2012, 08:09 PM Ps3 for sure Ishmon16 04-14-2012, 05:28 AM Well we all submitted to our own decision but i prefer the Xbox360 Ultimo1991 04-15-2012, 11:17 PM i prefer the xbox 360 myself but if you had Wii for a choice that would be mine^^ Kasumi chan 04-19-2012, 12:43 AM I like Xbox because Xbox disc = 1/25 PS3 disc (copyright infringement) Mechanic King 04-29-2012, 12:23 PM ima break this whole convo by saying the following: PC all the way XD but na, i prefer the 360 mostly due to the game library... that and i've had bad experiences with Sony -.- BlakZombie 05-02-2012, 07:58 PM I've never liked the Playstation since its conception mainly due to its controller. The games I have no problem with, but I can't stand the thumbsticks' sensitivity and placement. I personally prefer the 360 since its controller is vastly superior. Though I am jealous of the fact that the Playstation gets more exclusives both Western and Eastern compared to the Xbox. Aitai Yo 07-29-2012, 11:52 PM Bumping this up ^^ Okay, since there's already this thread about PS3 or XBox360 or Wii, I'd like to ask your advice, guys! I had an Xbox (it got "borrowed" and I don't think i'll get it back) and I currently have a PS2. I'm looking into making a new acquisition and there's the choice between PS3, XBox 360 and Wii. Knowing that I'll be most probably looking for RPGs (the likes of FF, Xenosaga, Persona, Wild Arms, Mana-Khemia, and Fable), strategic fighting games (like Dynasty and Samurai Warriors and their "empires" version), and games that involve collecting and unlocking stuffs and items (I loved DoA Xtreme beach volley ball and the Sims: Busting out on Xbox).... What machine would you recommend me? And in addition, does anybody know if there's a new generation of gaming consoles coming? ^^ Thanks in advance for your feedback! =) Seraphia 07-31-2012, 02:12 AM PS3 would be your best choice for RPGs; amongst others, it has the Alchemist of Arland Trilogy (Atelier Rorona, Totori and Meruru), Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel, Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice and Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten, Hyperdimension Neptunia and Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk. 2, Trinity Universe, White Knight Chronicles II (which also comes with the original game) and it also has Eternal Sonata and Star Ocean: The Last Hope, both expanded versions of what the 360 has. For RPGs, the 360 has Lost Odyssey, which is boredom incarnate, The Last Remnant, which is better on the PC, and Magna Carta II, which is fantastic-yet-forgettable in that it borrows from so many cliche plot devices it's unbelievable. It also has Tales of Vesperia, but the PS3 has Tales of Graces f and, whilst both games don't hold a candle to Symphonia, Graces f is better by a scant margin for having a more engaging battle system and a story that isn't all over the place. That said, the Wii has Xenoblade Chronicles, which is better than all of the above, and anything you're likely to find on the PS2. It's easily the best RPG to be released in well over 10 years, and worth buying a Wii for alone. Although in terms of RPGs, or even games for that matter, the Wii doesn't have much else. But it WOULD give you access to Gamecube games, meaning you could play Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphonia, Skies of Arcadia, Paper Mario 2, etc etc... I'd say PS3 has the best choice overall, Wii has the best quality in individual games, and 360 is laughable~ Regarding the next generation, I believe the Wii-U is slated for release this year, but there is nothing from Sony or Microsoft yet. If Sony are to be believed, the PS3 has a ten-year lifespan, and it's only a little over halfway through that, so there won't be another console coming from them anytime soon. Lord knows what Microsoft is doing...charging ridiculous fees for online services you can get for free on the PS3, no doubt. Aitai Yo 07-31-2012, 03:16 AM Thank you both for the feedback! ^^ Sounds like PS3 would be the most suitable for me, since I'm kinda fickle and need to change games often =p But how often do new games get developed on each machine? Are the game libraries for the PS3, Xbox360 and Wii regularly renewed or extended? Ginji666 07-31-2012, 04:30 AM ^ Dearie not all games are released on PC always remember there is a REASON for that because if they release Games on PC, then who will buy Console? 2nd Never Compare PC with Console, Personal Computer aka multiple task, managing tooling playing games, Does it sound dedicated to one task?? Console gaming hit the highest peak ~ without any modification.. To put it Simple, If I need to play Deus EX on full scale, then I need 1200 USDs, or above, to buy 680 Nvidia Card, attached with 3D 40 Inch LED tech SAMSUNG SLIM SCREEN, but that will cost much and it will never give Maximum or Complete best resolution / Quality / Detail / Gfx for that game. However if I play the game on PS3 or 360, I don't need GFX card, I plug-in and play to 60 Inch full scale without heating problem~ and with Maximum Details As for my PC specs Core i7 3700k + COOLER MASTER V8 CPU cooling system. 16 GB RAM 6790 HD RADEON Card 550 GX PSU with Cooler Master Scout PC Chase 5000 GB HARD DRIVE.. I shall add that Libraries information later, cuz I need confirmation as I am not satisfied with info that I have now:) Aitai Yo 07-31-2012, 04:49 AM Ah well, technical features and hardware matters are not significant for me, as long as the games are done well, nice to look at, give me enjoyment and are challenging enough to play =) And I want a console because it's easy to use: plug in, put the disc in there and play =D I'm more interested in the available games actually, which is why I would lean more towards a PS3 if most of the games are developed for both platforms and if the PS3 has some more interesting exclusive nuggets =) Years ago, I initially bought the Xbox because of some exclusive games, but then the games were not really to my taste, so I bought a PS2 afterwards. Ginji666 07-31-2012, 05:02 AM Between PS 2 & Xbox, Xbox never was competitor, it was failed and PS2 gain almost all the market because of RPGs and the games those were continuously released on that system.. But now they both stand together as by Market, as consumer requirement, because its all about Money therefor, only few games are released as exclusive , other then that 96 % of games are developed and designed for both Consoles. Seraphia 07-31-2012, 05:06 AM The point remains that high-spec PCs are superior to consoles. Yes, most PCs are designed for multiple functions, but there are PCs specifically designed to play games. They cost a fortune, granted, but you get what you pay for. I wouldn't say that consoles hit the highest point, either: there is a very pertinent reason that graphics cards are being constantly upgraded and that is, funnily enough, because graphics keep improving. Games like Oblivion and Skyrim look considerably better on the PC than they do on consoles. There isn't a HUGE difference a lot of the time, but there IS a difference. ...and, to be honest, with the tendency for consoles to lean towards frequent massive updates for games and firmware, the gap between the two is closing rapidly; it isn't just plug-in-and-play anymore with consoles; you've got installation for games, patches, updates for the consoles themselves, etc, and whilst the memory is fairly big on consoles, so too is the update data; I've had my 250GB PS3 for two and a half years now and I've already used up half the storage space. The difference between the two for accessibility of games is minimal these days. Skyrim is proof that console games are much more prone to glitches, as well, which means even MORE updates to correct those. Consoles are, perhaps, more convenient, and they're a one-time purchase which hold up well over the years, but for the best experience for graphics (and, perhaps, interactivity for some games, because of mods) the PC will always be the best choice. It runs faster, a lot of the time the internet connection is better, that you can do more with it is also a point in its favour, and you can upgrade with minimum hassle. This isn't to say that PCs don't have their own problems - DRM being one of them, cost of staying at the top end being another - but in terms of versatility and hardware, they will always be superior to consoles. Hence why, if these things matter to you, a top-of-the-range PC would be the best way to go. But if that stuff doesn't matter to you, and you're after RPGs, PS3 would be the best choice. A lot of what the 360 gets for exclusives ultimately winds up on the PS3 anyway - Star Ocean: The Last Hope and Eternal Sonata are the best two examples of this - and there IS a slight difference in graphics between the PS3 and 360, with the PS3 being superior...there was a huge fiasco around the release of FFXIII because PS3 screenshots were being advertised as 360 ones, and there was a BIG difference. I'm not spec savvy, though, so I'm not sure why there is a difference. Ginji666 07-31-2012, 05:25 AM I'll make everything short, I said its about Money, the developers build them for PC so it has to be a reasons, you pay that's what you get, for console and most highest resolution is 1080p ~ this maximum Pixel Resolution and standard used in almost all games, going above won't add details but instead they just fit your screen so your game can be scale to full screen as it has designed.. About Final Fantasy XIII Obviously Blu-ray >_> 40 GB full HD Resolution for Final Fantasy XIII for PS3 and for Xbox 3 DVD9 were used, the game was on 20+GB with screen CGs resolution 720p Compressed. that is one and only one last major difference. Remember Gaming PC are still PC, PC is over all strong powerful compared to console, but what are Gaming PC, and give me one logical difference between any successive title which scored off charts compared to Console. I cannot play Tekken, nor I can play Final Fantasy XIII, its all about individual choice, Reasons?? Ok play the witcher 2 assassins of kings ~ on console ~ its good really good at least on full scale, but on PC it gets bit more detailed when your playing that game on 32x AA Quad, with screen resolution over 25xx by 19xx, but whats the reasons?? I'll tell you why: because Boobs gonna jump out of screen ~ seriously its not joke though it sounds so, but that's the REASON~ and because NVIDIA / AMD also pays for their advertizement Well I think, now I will only add the libraries information ~ this wasn't short at all >_> Aitai Yo 07-31-2012, 05:43 AM Lol did my questions open a Pandora box or something? =p Let's just chillax, friends ^__^ Though it's interesting to read, I didn't know all of that. G-Tank 07-31-2012, 06:42 AM @topic: I would go for whatever game titles you are after. both consoles have their powerhorses. If you want to play online much, ps3 has a slight advantage for not having costs to play online. @offtopic: most games are developed for consoles (due to salenumbers) and then ported to the PC which sucks major ass since the ports are of bad quality (not all but a lot). thats why most pc gamers are upset, the situation is rly bad compared to years ago. ofc, most of the complainers are morons that say its all the fault of the consoles (which is nonsense), its the "fault" of the companies that make the games. Seraphia is right with all points, PC will always be the superior plattform for games when it comes to hardware and performance, as well as things like mods, online play and community. GetMePower 07-31-2012, 02:28 PM The PC has the video gaming advantage for first person shooters, simulation racing and MMOs. The PS3 and the Wii have good hardware, it's just that the Wii has the graphics within a generation behind. It's not that bad if you want to play in full screen with the components plugged in. The 360 has Forza, Halo, Gears of War, Too Human and Dead or Alive 4. The gripes of having the 360 from my experience are: using the Kinect, the quality control of their hardware and $60 for Xbox Live Gold Membership including to pay subscription for Amazon Prime as well as Netflix individually. As far as hardware goes, the PS3 is better. You'll get discounts if you're a Playstation Network Plus subscriber. The only problem is the Wi-Fi, so leave it wired to the internet. G-Tank 07-31-2012, 02:38 PM The only problem is the Wi-Fi, so leave it wired to the internet. yeah i would rly suggest that, the wifi is weird sometimes and kable is much more stable. GetMePower 08-06-2012, 02:14 AM Yeah, the Wifi that SCEI engineered is a screw-up. Hopefully they will fix it during the development under Project Orbis. Sang Hee 08-26-2012, 05:10 PM I never wanted gaming to be about a platform so I've got PS3, 360, and a hi-end PC to be able to play any game I like. But if you can afford only one I'd say PS3. Not only does it play blu-ray, you get a lot of japanese developers making titles for it and its exclusives are imho better than for the other platforms. Also with Playstation Plus you can play some full games for free. Aitai Yo 08-26-2012, 10:08 PM Yeah the thing is I can only afford one =) And in the end, because of the way it is in my country, the Xbox360 was the most economical and most convenient for me, so I came back home with it instead of the PS3 I had set out to purchase ^^ Sang Hee 08-27-2012, 01:12 AM I know what you mean. 360 was also the first I got. The deal was just great. Took me a couple of years to save up for a PS3. I must admit I had no idea where your country was till I checked the map. Interesting to learn something new. Is your language exactly same as dutch or does it have its own dialect? I use dutch as slang in the books I write and I think it's cool. How are you satisfied with your 360, though? I wish it got more asian rpgs, rather than so many classic american games. Aitai Yo 08-27-2012, 01:35 AM Oh Gods! I have to stop messing with the flags =D I'm not from Suriname, sorry! ^^ I'm from Cambodia but it's not in the flag list. We are neighbors to Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. So I guess I'll be Lao for a while =p And we speak the Khmer language, which is a descendant of Sanskrit. But besides the official language, some old people know French (because Cambodia was a French colony until 1953), most educated Cambodians know English and a lot of youngsters know Chinese, Thai and Korean ^^ So far, I'm happy with the Xbox! The game Catherine's currently keeping me busy and when I feel like playing something that doesn't require too much brain, I play Dynasty Warriors 7 ^^ Later on, I'll probably acquire Bastion ^^ Sang Hee 08-27-2012, 02:22 PM I see. I know about Laos. Have met couple of people from there during my stay in the USA. Warriors series is my favorite so far on the consoles. Played DW7 to my heart's content and just today moved on to Warriors Orochi 3. I really like the stories and the characters around it. Both Japan and China have some cool history. I love reading the books about it, especially the original Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Have you played any other Warriors games? Aitai Yo 08-27-2012, 11:17 PM I had written a long post in response but the explorer crashed and it wasn't sent (and I didn't copy it)! >.< Mmh, well, I suggest to move the discussion there: http://forum.nihonomaru.com/gaming-message-boards/149083-koei-games.html Since we may be going quite off-topic now ^^ I'll repost over there! ^^ togan77 10-21-2012, 08:28 PM Gots ta be ps3,as it has more exclusives. But I own all current gen plats...+nice RIG |
