View Full Version : Rep system change or bug?
I wonder what happened. I looked on my user CP panel at the main page and noticed that my Rep power has dropped from 63 to 23. Changes in the reputation system or a bug only? I checked my User CP and I still have 590 rep points and my post count didn't drop either, so I don't know what could have caused this.
Or is this because I mentioned another site's name in one of my posts? oO
I really doubt that. Arika, You got that pissed, because You had to edit my post?

Arika asked me to modify some files indeed.... It is more honest this way...
This time the rep power is calculated and handled in combination with your posts in some forums. So if you post allot in the random and then especially "the spamming threads" then your rep power will go down. It also looks at posts in the history...
This is done so that the real members who care about rep power will not abuse the random topics full of what are you doing now etc etc etc.
So if you have posted in one of those topics then your reputation power and reputation will drop... It will not drop verry rapidly but it will drop.
So if you care for rep then just post usefull posts. If you do not care about it then just post away :)
This is actually done so that the forum becomes faster loading. The reputation script uses about 90% of the capacity of the server resulting in the lag.
Some times the server may still lag but that is because it is still dealing with the older reputations that still need to be added and removed... This will take about another 36 hours.

What do you mean useful... are you referring to its length or what, others then that it has some use for example help someone upload something ect...
Thanks for the explanation pretmaker. Good idea. I think it's better this way.
(So that's why You haven't been to PC... Busy, eh?)

Yeah indeed...
And it is contributing in global without pressuring the precense of yourself. :) Basically you only get +rep and depending on your postcount it will be more rep or less rep. If you have 10 rep and you recieve rep from someone with 1000 posts then it would be like 5 rep. But if you recieve rep from someone with 500 posts then it will be like 10 rep...
I will go into the details when I wake up tomorrow.. Now it is time to sleep.

I like the idea you're going for, but doesn't it discourage people from talking in the "spamming threads" if doing so will drop your rep power?:6: Maybe those posts should just not be counted towards rep power at all instead of decreasing it.
Just a thought:chant:
Just talking in the "spamming threads" won't drop Your rep power that much. It's spamming that could significally drop it. Am I right? :)

Nah that is wrong, i changed from every 10 points you gain one rep power to every 30 points you gain 1 rep power.

Ahh, okay - that makes more sense than something complicated like what pret was talking about. Is pret's thing in the works though? I'm curious now.

Wow this mixes things up a bit.
Certainly makes the forums way more boring, not to mention now I'm never going to some sections so I can keep my 56 Rep power... which used to be 151..
So I'll see you all around alot less..
