Square keeps talking about a Final Fantasy X "Remake" ...so I wonder.... Will it really be an actual remake or will it just be the same game with higher resolution and new textures...

Only Time will tell I guess... but either way, I'm looking forward to it.

Yes loved this game :O looked stunning on the ps2 and now they're amping it up on the ps3. and while they do that, square enix should really remake FF7

Here's hoping they remake it so it looks like a PS3 game. I don't want them to just HD the PS2 graphics. I want them to convert to PS3 era and add new content.

X-2 was actually pretty amazing. Sure the music was a bit annoying at times and it was a tad girly-ish but man... I loved to go back to Spira and see how it changed and what has become of all the characters. For me, it was a nice addition to the original game.. and the true ending was just sweet. Even I have to admit that ;)

Can't wait for this! The last game before Square started pouring out awful games -.- But when they say remake, I doubt it'll be any huge changes. Just my opinion! :)

if they're gonna make FFX a remake... it would probably go to the X360 as well... i prefer it as a PS2 Classic, JUST for Playstation users.

Nope, confirmed for Playstation only. Although this is one of the main reasons I don't want a Final Fantasy VII remake... That and the fact Squeenix will screw it up.

I'm...not very excited about this, in all honesty. I don't think much of FFX - I mean, Tales of Symphonia covers exactly the same amount of storyline content in about a third of the time, and then expands on it - and it isn't really that inspiring of a video game...it's memorable for being the first Final Fantasy on the PS2, but for me, that is the only reason to remember it. In truth, I had much more fun with the sequel. X-2 was just random fun, it actually reminded me a bit of the Ar Tonelico games in terms of shameless fanservice, but it did it in such a way that you couldn't help but smile about it. X-2 wasn't really supposed to be serious (unlike X, which took great pains to achieve that, and only came across as ridiculous) and that was part of its appeal.

A remaster (because updating the visuals to high definition does NOT qualify a video game as a remake, at least not in my opinion, and I will stand by that no matter what the company calls it. Not even Nintendo, who re-released Ocarina of Time for the five-hundredth time on the 3DS with enhanced visuals, called it a remake) doesn't really sound all that exciting to me, and it sounds even less appealing when there will probably be a higher end price tag attached to it. I spent too many hours for comfort maxxing out the Sphere Grid for every character and defeating the Dark Aeons (which I hope are included, because then at least it'll offer something new for US fans) and I don't think I'll want to do that again anytime soon...not with far better games coming out.

That said, I hope they give FFXII the same treatment. XII I absolutely adored. I'd probably pick up X-2 as well; far too few JRPGs make me laugh for the right reasons these days, and I haven't played a single game developed by Square Enix that I've actually liked since FFXII, so even if its just a remaster, something from them that I won't be incapable of playing due to disgust would be fantastic~

Couldn't disagree more about X-2! I will always see that as the first truly awful Square-Enix game... Coincidentally, the first Square-Enix game as well. Ever since X, Squeenix has just thrown out crap to all its fans! XI was a joke, I like the idea of a FF MMO but it should NOT go inside the series just to boost the number higher, it should have been called Final Fantasy Online or something along those lines. XII was a joke. The characters were all Star Wars rip offs really, another major problem was that everyone had a reason for being there except the main guy who was just along for the ride!

However I do agree with you, a HD remaster is NOT a remake. They will change something small, like Zelda did and call it a remake which is a joke. This new Square-Enix is just all money... Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey was better than anything they made since the Playstation One days. In my opinion at least!

From what I have been reading... it is a SONY PS3 exclusive, and everything is being re-rendered from scratch. If Square keeps its promises you may just get your wish. I hope the develop some of the game mechanics too... wouldn't it be nice to face off against friends in blitzball too. One can dream...

And my sources tell me that the FFVII HD Remaster has been confirmed as a launch title for the PS5.

While I might agree with your first comment because of the enhanced customization and flexibility of the International version, I have to hate on your second comment.

Square doesn't have the time or money to truly re-make any FF game. As it is, FFX is only an HD remaster which has been recently confirmed by Shinji Hashimoto as enhancing the renders. No word on what version they are working on.

And who are these sources? Who are you to have these sources?

Additionally, the "PS4" hasn't even been released and you are talking about the 5th? Ugh. Post more, maybe I'll believe you.

It is highly improbable that Square Enix will remake FFVII-IX for quite a while yet (unless they've already begun on VII and have kept it under wraps...which would be VERY impressive, given how much they seem to love announcing games and never actually finishing them) because it would require rebuilding them from the ground up. These HD remasters that seem to be all the rage at the moment are little better than ports, which take considerably less time and effort to produce. People who thinks this signifies the possibility of a proper remake or even a remaster of the earlier PS1 games are kidding themselves: all this really shows is that Square Enix have hopped on the bandwagon of developers re-releasing their older games. In their case, probably to try and make it up to those fans who aren't as keen on their latest releases.

Although I will agree that it needs to be the international version, and not the US version, that needs to receive this treatment. There is no excuse not to do it, and whilst it won't provide me with any incentive whatsoever to buy it (although I may possibly get it on the Vita if I really need a game at that point in time, and have the money...both of those conditions seem unlikely) it does mean there is an actual point to remastering it, at least for US territories.

What most people don't know is that it's actually a REMAKE using the Crystals Engine, the engine used for XIII. They aren't changing or adding any new content, so they're saying it's just an HD version, but any game that uses a completely new engine is a remake in my book.

This is my first time hearing about the game -- exciting exciting. I really believe FF VII is going to come sooner or later, which is going to be epic. Also Square Enix has gotten up to a movie-like level of FMV which should come to any of their remakes. Vaan is going to look better than ever..
