I'm a 20 year old girl and recently I have found 3 or 4 shortish white hairs on my head. :1: I have dark brown hair. Kind of freaked me out D: Has anyone else ever experienced this?

I had some silver @ my temples in Jr. High, they went away in High School, then came back in my 30's, now I have long silver hair mixed in with the rest...
salt / pepper = peacock

My great-grandfather was totally gray by the time he was 16 years old... BUT he didn't age a day after. Even when he was in his 60's he still looked like he was in his 20's. No lie. People in my family basically don't age. My mother turns 50 this year and she looks like she's in her early 30's. Now that I think about it, all my aunts and uncles are either in their 50's or are close to it but look like they are in their late 20's early 30's, yet all have sparse graying at the temples. My grandfather is pushing 80 but looks like he's in his 40's, and he doesn't even have that much gray hair either.
So who knows? Maybe you'll gray early but never have a wrinkle on your face as long as you live, like in my family. ^_^

I have a white spot on the back of my head that's been there since I was little and my girlfriend love to point it out , but I also have a full head of red hair with black mixed in. so it stays dark and I can live with the spot. I just fear going bald

my bf has a patch of like 20 gray hairs and various single strands all over. he has black/blown hair so it's kinda fun to pull on em.
but then he yells at me 'cause he's afraid to go bald if i pull on em.

well depends a lot of the stress as i said if you have a easy life....and you dont screw your body to much(overwork, nervous, smoking, drinking) you will not age faster also if you take care if your skin XD

As long as you have a full head of hair, having all grey hair is perfectly fine. Hell, depening on your age you may even look sexy like Ivy from Soul Caliber. As a guy I don't wan't to have my hair change halfway. I want consistant hair colour, no spots or stripes (well maybe strips) but that's just me and I might be greedy:cowboy:.

I wouldn't worry about finding a couple of stray gray hairs. There are lots of things that can cause discolorations of the hair, like a shortage of vitamin B12, malnutrition in general, or a hormonal imbalance in the thyroid gland.
Lot's of people I know have the odd strand of grey here and there, and that includes people under 20.
Of course, there's always the off-chance you're one of the few unlucky people whose hair starts graying at a very young age. But I still wouldn't worry too much. People with dark hair tend to keep their colour longest, so the chances are rather small.

Personally, I prefer white hair(depends on the person though). Besides, sometimes it's just in people's genetics to get white hair early on in life. You can style it to make it look cool, it's not big deal.

Wow, that's what happened to one of my friends back in Junior High! I, on the other hand, have black hair, but also strangely some occasional strands of shiny crimson-brown hair despite the fact that I'm purebred Asian.

I also read that some of the hair tonics lacks ect make your hair age faster... but it is not proven.
PS.: i love white hair, even thought i only saw once a painted one it looked super cool.
edit.: ok my mom says if you experienced a great trauma in the near past that can also make you hair turn rapidly white in short period of time.
She say she already some ppl who got white hair at age 20 because that.
Still i think white hair is cool, but i was always fan of strange hair colors.

yup for me it's sort of a genetic thing... my mum's got white hair when she was little n me n my brother are the same. don't think it's a problem though dye it if u don't want it to show... by the way i have black hair n ppl notice my white strands but i just don't care n they all got used to it... my brother's worse than me tho lol guess about a quarter to a third of his hair's white

ya, i got white hairs as well... well i can never see them except for one thats in teh front and is pretty easy to see in a mirror. but my friends tell me that i have gray/white hairs. idk how much but i doubt its alot. 2 of my friends (twins) from school have alot of gray hair. its almost silver but its kinda cool, he looks like a raccoon. lol

my hair is pretty much 80 percent white now. it runs in the family. so having a couple of strays aint so bad lol i heard that if u pull one out two grow back but i doubt it. just leave them be i guess. some ppl dig white hair haha

To be honest, I have way over 50 white hairs on my head!
And I first noticed my first 3 when I was 11, at the age of 15/16, its when it grew to a lot and now I have many, and now I'm alright with it - even though people think wierd of me and ask me a lot of questions about it hehehehe.
And also, I understand, your a girl, I'm a guy. I'm more likely to accept it. Yes, but be strong. I dye my hair and I have extremely dark brown hair (near enough black). And I dye it like every once 2 months or something. And I'm proud of my white hairs lol.

I one had a school friend with the same problem he just cut his hair
and it never bother him again so it's no biggie but it's stress related

that just seem to show up randomly. A lot of people mistake my jetblack
hairs for being white though when under lights---it gets really shiny.

like Albert Einstein-wirey-as-hell lookin. LoL. The crazy ones though...that
make me say:"WTF!?" are the random blonde and dark red hairs I'll find

^ agreed. the only time you have to worry about your white hair imo, is in grade school when kids pick on you or something (assuming you had white hair in 3rd grade like me) and employment. my employers said the guests will feel paranoid that id run off with their car lol other than that my white hair doesnt really bother me.

i can't help you but i will tell you this, a girl with white hair like white hair that is my age i think you said your 20 that would be hott. i gotta tell my baby i got a new fantasy now i didn't know people really had white hair keep em let em grow let the whole thing go white, then show pictures to everybody

I got a small bit of grey up topside, and a few whiskers in my mustasche and beard that are grey. I see no reason to worry, where as my hair is as thick as ever. I just hope that I do not end up like my dad with the three hairs combed over the bald head to try to look like he had hair...

theres nothing you can really do besides dye your hair. premature gray hair is genetic, and its likely one of your parents or grandparents had it. i know i have some of it, and i know i got it from my dad, since, if he stopped dying his hair (hes 47) he'd have been completely gray by the time he was 38 or so.

My genetics demand that my hair colour turn to white well before the time it's supposed to.
So yes. My hair is turning silver...I don't even know how fast. Maybe it's stopped but yeah, it's still a bit noticeable especially since I have black hair.
