Welcome to Gensokyo! This is the Land of Illusion and Fantasy, the land where the series "Touhou" takes place.

Some info on Gensokyo: Gensokyo was originally a desolate, haunted region of Japan ages ago. The youkai that lived there began to terrorize the surrounding lands, and thus powerful, heroic humans were sent to exorcise and exterminate them. The off and on battle between humans and youkai continued on until 1884 A.D., when Gensokyo was sealed off from this increasingly scientific and skeptical world with the creation of the Hakurei Border. There has been little contact between those societies ever since. Today, the only known gateway between Gensokyo and this world is the Hakurei Shrine, which stands in isolation along the border on distant mountains of the far east.

Gensokyo is populated mainly by youkai, but a decent human and rabbit population lives there as well. Some of its inhabitants went there to hide, to escape, to find shelter when no one and nowhere else would accept them. Many of them just like the natural darkness.

What is the purpose of this club?

- The purpose of this club is to gather Touhou lovers and those who wish to know more about Touhou to have fun and partake in events, sharing your experience with Touhou, favorite characters, games, and exciting news about upcoming projects of Touhou.

Why is this club being made if there is already one?

- The club is being made as a revamped club. The past one seems to have died out along with it's members, but I hope to create a club worth staying in and to keep alive.

- Hamachi room will be 00MOKO and the pass is 1542
- I will provide a link to the game along with Scarlet Whether Rhapsody (all in one folder) and instructions on how to install all the characters
- I will host the Hamachi room and view everyone who fights
- There will be a ladder system just like a normal competition would be
- Best of 5 matches (so 3 wins) will progress
- Members will be chosen at random to fight each other
- There will probably be lag, hopefully not too bad
- Prize is undecided

Abilities: Sealing/purification powers, high intuition, ability to call on the power of Gods, flight
Age: Mid-teens
Occupation: Shrine maiden
Location: Hakurei Shrine

Description:
Wears a shrine maiden outfit (red and white) with detached sleeves, a large bow in her hair. She has red eyes and long purple hair in the earlier games, but becomes brown and shorter as the games progress. She has a neckerchief that is a different color in different games.

The first main character of the Touhou series. She is a Shrine Maiden who is called upon to investigate strange occurrences that are happening in the world.
In the beginning, Reimu was unable to directly harm enemies, but as time went by, she learned how to use Ying-Yang Orbs and special amulets, as well as fly. Before she was able to fly, she had a flying aid, a turtle named Genji.

She is easygoing and optimistic. She is sympathetic towards certain individuals, though there are few people who remain her rivals past the first game in which they appear.

Hey, I'm viviomega, you can just call me Vivi or Vivio. I found out about Touhou actually when I was looking for some anime backgrounds and I came across a picture of Youmu Konpaku and wondered where she was from. I later found out that it was in fact not an anime, but actually a game. So I downloaded it (I believe I started with Imperishable Night) and loved the game, so I decided to download all the other versions and played through them all.

I listen to Touhou techno arranges all the time (youtube moomar2 to listen) and classical arranges too (youtube KakashiMr)

I love all the fan made stuff including the anime PVs and fan made games.

My favorite character, if you cannot tell by looking at my avatar, sig, and profile (it'll probably stay that way for quite some time), is Fujiwara no Mokou, the Extra Stage boss of Touhou 08 - Imperishable Night and also appears in Touhou 9.5 - Shoot the Bullet, as the Extra Stage 5 and 6 boss.

I love all the characters but Mokou just ended up being my favorite.

I haven't played any Touhou game so far, pardon me for that. Just in time, I was looking for a new game to play at home, and I might start with Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, and all other PC-platform Touhou games. Freaking bored lately >__<

So to begin, Touhou is a PC-Game is a series of 2D (with 3D background) vertically-scrolling danmaku shooting games (Bullet hell) made by Team Shanghai Alice with the exception of a few fighting games, like Immaterial and Missing Power, Scarlet Whether Rhapsody, and Hisoutensoku (continuation to SWR)

The game series is created by a man who goes by ZUN, a pervert who likes to drink >.<

The game takes place in Gensokyo (stated in first post) and all the characters, with the exception of like 4, are all female

There are several modes in the games:

Easy, Normal, Hard, Lunatic, and Extra

Extra stages are different than the other difficulties since you play through to fight one boss.

If you are downloading the games, make sure you find an English Patch (or ask me for it) so you can understand the stories more.

However, I have since continued to play and enjoy them quite a lot actually. My favorite would have to be Embodiment of Scarlet Devil for the terrible Cirino glitch.

My favorite character, would have to be the one that annoys Vivi the most in 12.3 which is Suwako Moriya. But Mannosuke comes in close second.

Since we are going to do 12.3, SWR is good practice but please be sure to play 12.3, Hisoutensoku. Just follow the tutorial in the video provided to use all the characters. Customize your decks too, however you want

And yeah you can make a new userbar or banner, since the ones I made are just simple ones, I'd like to see what you can make ^-^

You mean the English Patch? Just past it into the folder of the game and click on the .exe (the english patch one) and it should work, then you'll get an icon that looks like the original game client but with a little "E" next to it, that's the English patched version

Touhou is basically a 2D (With 3D background) vertical shooter game. It's barrage of bullets on high difficulty is known as Danmaku

There are a few fighting games, like the one we will be using in the upcoming event once we hit 8 members preferably.

The game is created by a man that goes by ZUN and he has also written some fictional stories (where you would only find some of the characters, officially)

There are also a lot of fan made games and musical arranges.

The game takes place in Gensokyo (where you are right now :D) and features young (looks, not actual age) girls with the exception of a few male characters.

But if you're stuck, hit the "Z" Key

The main buttons you use are Z, X and Shift

Z is fire, X is bomb, and Shift is to slow down (and alt attack in some games)

Also try changing it to window mode through the custom_e.exe, and whether it's 16 or 32 bit

When you extracted it, do you extract them both at the same time? I use 7z to extract files

If you want to practice the fight for the Touhou 12.3 battle event, you should download it now and watch the tutorial video on how to get the rest of the characters.

Lol it's fine. I just don't think Touhou has any actual screen shot directories. Which is why you would need to paste it in paint or photoshop, just any paint type tool.

I'll have to download SWR elsewhere, perhaps to my regular high-speed internet cafe sometime.
Not on my home connection, too jittery for 600+ MB. And obviously, I doubt a 512 MB RAM machine can smoothly run a 1GB RAM game. I should be able to watch the tutorial video by then.

Lol I'm sorry to hear about that. The reason it's so big is because it has both SWR and THH (12.3) in that one folder. The reason for that is because 12.3 actually uses SWR to get the rest of the characters, spell cards, and stages.

For 12.3 and SWR they are each about 1G, unfortunately

So together 2G. The .rar file is only 600Mb

I added the links to the games so that you can understand the stories more for each game and get better at the games. If anything please download 12.3 and Scarlet Whether Rhapsody so we can start our first event.

Just get use to the controls and gameplay of that since it isn't the shooter, it's the fighter.

I've said in another thread, "Some of the best things in life are those you are afraid to try." Same goes with this. You might absolutely love the series if you give them a try. Plus there is easy mode (which is still pretty hard, especially for the first 5 games

Lol no I haven't. I'll get to it soon though. It is just that simple though just not right now.

But the fighting one isn't simply just button mashing, like yeah I guess it is but still, there are a lot of REALLY good players that know what they are doing.

But I'll get some other games up (once I find out how to get the netplay on some working since each are different) like Touhou Bomberman

Soo... yeah... I got to touhou because of a friend and this game just hit one me. It was great.... My first touhou was 12... but it didnt work on my computer so I dwonloaded EoSD. I got both version but here my Internet sucks and it will lag for about 90% So I don't know if I can actually join the competition. but I really want to. Well... see ya around guys 8D

They aren't making it an Anime because of ZUN the creator of touhou. He doesn't want it to be an anime. The fans are suggesting that he doesn't want the kids to be watching the anime without knowing the origins... So, no Anime. If this is the true reason I don't know... but I do know ZUN doesn't want an anime. If they make an anime ZUN stops making the games. But IF there is an anime I would definetly watch it...

He later clarified that the guideline on sexual content applied only to commercial goods, and said that he does not think that the existing noncommercial dōjin contents have been problematic so far.

He then specifically restricted the development of commercial anime projects. He added that the new restriction applies to "cel animation"; the restriction did not apply to works created with 3D software or to illustrations and special effects.

The creator also placed restrictions on the sale of works — both dōjin and commercial — on the XBox Live Indie Games marketplace for the XBox 360 console, Apple's App Store for the iPhone and other iOS devices, and Android Market for phones and other devices. Another restriction applies to sales through overseas downloads and other channels that go beyond traditional means of releasing dōjin works. Finally he restricted "overly sexual depictions and defamation against certain individuals, groups, or races that are determined to go against common decency."

The anime studio ufotable announced last September that it was producing an anime project with the ANIMATE store chain's mascot character and the Touhou Project game characters. At the time, the Touhou Project creator said that he was not involved and that he did not know the details about it. Dōjin circles had previously sold anime with Touhou Project characters at the Comic Market (Comiket) convention.

Update: The creator said on Tuesday that although he has been asked this many times before, there is no official anime production so far. He added that he has no plans for one either.
