Hi guys,

Ive been downloading manga from this site in RAR and Zipped format but i dont have any software to unzip them. Can anyone please recommend a free software tool that can unzip Rar and Zipped formats? I was recently using WinZip but its only free for 45 days and then you have to buy it. I had downloaded 7zip but the program wouldnt open or run when i double clicked on it because my antivirus blocked it as it didnt know where it came from ..... >_> Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advanced! :onegai:

7-Zip, it's free, open source software. It opens Zip and RAR files. Works perfectly.

Download it from a reliable source and disable your Antivirus soft to install it.

If you won't do that there's IZArc, PeaZip, TUGZip, WinAce, PowerArchiver, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions, Setebos! I'll try and use some of the ones you mentioned! :onion10:

WinRAR says you need to buy after 45 days but..... You don't need to do that! :P (I love using it with winXP :D )
Just keep closing the reminder and it will keep working. :D :P
(Been using it for a while but not recently :P )

Yep yep. 7z is way better than winrar and winzip. <:

hm...
7zip by far the best and most versatile unpacker there is,

BUT, if you are also packing stuff for storage or uploading things, i strongly discourage the use of 7zip formats right now, as one of its biggest weaknesses is the lack of proper damage/corruption control, and relatively weak splitted archives, it has slightly better compression rates than winrar though.

Ditto to what Setebos said.

7Zip can also be used with a portable version. I prefer that version since it won't have any side effects that come with installing programs.

What operating system are you using btw? Windows XP?

I highly recommend WinRAR or PeaZip ;) (But I lean more onto WinRAR)

Try winrar of 7zip
I've been using them for years
Both are reliable and easy to use.

WinRAR is the best program to use. 7zip isn't cool because it doesn't have Win in it.
But seriously, *cough* WinRAR is the most reliable, and it's free, although there's a reminder.
WinZip is best for packing files up. WinRAR is best for unpacking.

WinRAR as your main and 7Zip as your secondary
And UHARC,(WinUHA is what I use) for super high compression

7-Zip. I have been using it for a long time and have had absolutely no problems packing or unpacking files. It also has many different options on how to pack the files and folders.

I used WinRAR before I needed to pack files and just ignored the 'you MUST buy this, but we will still let you use it anyway' message at opening.

Personally, I swear by WinRAR; have used it for years. I do see the merit in using 7Zip as their compression algorithms allow for some pretty compressed data, but that's just my $0.05

I use WinRar for both, packing and un packing. Its simple and easy, and works with no problems. Ive tried 7-zip on my Pc and it seemed like it did everything slower...

Yeah I agree, I'd rather use WinRar, I own the software and all the dressings:moli_7ree_067:

7zip, all the way. It open pretty much everything, even some video game file formats. Completely free, too- all in all, easily the most adaptable and durable decompressing program out there.

7zip should do the job nicely.
