View Full Version : What bodily features do girls like on guys???---Girls opinion preferred (obviously)

I realized that there were quite a few threads regarding face, breasts, long/short hair, etc., but most tended to be focused on what men thought on girls.
So I'd like to raise the question, whether girls have any sort of "preferences" on a man's features? Like would girls like it if a man is tall? If so how tall? Do girls like men with some sort of "manly" bodily build-up? Like having a wide shoulder, good body-build-up of muscles etc (not excessively of course, but at least show some decent "packs" at least???). I also often hear some girls talking about how "handsome" some guy is, but what exactly is meant by "handsome"? I know that its definition is good-looking and attractive, and that different people probably have different tastes, but just as a general outline. What other features would you kinda "prefer" your BF to have???
I feel stupid asking such trivial questions, but in reality you get to see a person's outsides first, and it would not be good to start off with a bad first impression. I know that what really "counts" is the inside, but I just got curious...

I am not saying that men shouldnt make any comments, guys who know a woman's psyche very well (like Slayden), may certainly know something about what girls like on men.
And well errrr...well I am not gay, so I am rather interested in what girls have to say in regards to the issue at hand.

I as a boy who loves girls found that some boys where attractive on these features.
* Not macho
* Not overly muscles
* No glasses
* Lovely hair (Not to long but deffiniatly not short)
* Well build regarding to the widht (Large shoulders to carry the weight of love and troubles)
* The legs should be strong enough to carry both.
* The arms should be strong enough to carry me or some heavy stuff that must be carried.
* The waist should not be to slim... If you see the ribs then it is hopeless in my opinion.
* It should be a strong body that can wear the emotional problems and the body.
* The face should shine enough courage needed and also self confident.
Basically I do not want to have a ultra skinny body builder who has to much testerone in his body. I would rather have a more modest type who is self confident and has enough power that is needed in daily life.
But that is the thing that I as a boy would like to see in other boys that would make me interrested in them.
Girls also fit the same categorie for me but I like girls more becaus of their reproduction capabilities and a few other things that I can not explain with just the body. But I like girls more then boys again........
(pretty hard to justify if you are replying to this topic while being a boy :P)

pretmaker pretty much summed it all up there. Most females just like a normal body.
With maybe a bit of work done on it, so bigger then normal muscles.
You'll have to ask your girl what she likes. (when you get one).

All these things are true, and I'm sure most girls will happily concur.
* No glasses
Not. True. At. All.
A guy wearing thin- or wire-framed glasses can look just as good as, and in some cases, better than guys that don't. Alexis Denisof for example:
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
* Lovely hair (Not to long but deffiniatly not short)
This is addressed in the "Long Hair or Short" thread, and it really depends on the guy's face. Some girls like very short hair, some like very long hair (if he can pull off the look), some like medium. So it really depends on the girl, but I'd say most like a good head of hair styled correctly that compliments a guy's face.
* The waist should not be to slim... If you see the ribs then it is hopeless in my opinion.
Eh. Yes and no, but mostly yes. This again depends on the girl though. A thin waist is ok if he's got at least some lines on his stomach (a light six-pack or better). As far as the rib thing goes, I have a huge lung-capacity and therefor a large ribcage. Even in tip-top shape, the two tips at the bottom of my ribcage point out a little, and girls usually trace their fingers around one or both, which kinda tickles.
Ok. What girls physically like in a man. Face comes first, just as men always go for a pretty face first in women. As for the body, I would say guys are quite lucky because girls' preferences on the male body type tend to be a little more flexible than what guys like on girls. Girls won't mind a little extra fat on a guy and it won't really affect his image. 10 lbs (5 kg) or so overweight won't bother a girl, but 30 lbs (14 kg) or more is pretty gross (though many women are willing to overlook it if he has a great personality).
A big penis does wonders too. Ha ha ha ha ha! :JFBQ00213070516A:

From my experience it really just depends on the girl - they've all got different tastes, just like we do (simple example: blond hair does nothing for me but other guys go nuts for a blond lady.) Some will find a man attractive even as their friends are repulsed by his looks.
You'll never get two people to agree that "yes, *these* are the features that make someone physically attractive." Aside from obvious matters of taste, many people will fetishize something (glasses, hair type, muscles - one girl I know is absolutely obsessed with collar bones, for some reason.)
Ever notice how no matter how unlucky someone was with genetics, almost everyone gets hooked up at some point? Somewhere, there are people who will find ANYTHING attractive. I'm pretty sure it's a correlation to rule 34.

Before i start; lol @ slayden's big penis :3
Everyone has different preferences, I for one have this fetish for soft hands (my bf has ridiculously soft hands; they're softer than mine and he doesn't moisturize! that fscker)
handsome is different in each society too; i hope you're not somewhere where unibrows are sexy.
anyway, if you don't fit your area's traditional hawt guy image, you're going to have to go on fetishes and actions for first impressions.
as for what i prefer my bf to have, i'd prefer that he had longer hair and a physique to match his strength. he's got no 'pack' and his muscles are only apparent in his arms. always a surprise for the ppl that think they can push him around to get closer to me. he can easily carry me around (and once carried my dad around *shudder*), which is always fun <3

When it comes right down to it every guy/girl is different... if what you're REALLY wondering is how to make yourself more attractive to the ladies, I can send you all the specs you need for surgery so you can look just like me:JFBQ00213070516A:
Seriously though, if that IS what you've been trying to find out... talk to girls you know in real life - they know what you look like, what your good points are that you should emphasize and what your bad points are that you should try to minimize.
REALLY seriously though, I can definitely send you that plastic surgery info :bingo2:

The "ideal" look for a guy varies from viewer to viewer, person (the one being viewed) to person, and changes quite a bit from place to place. The only common factor is that you look well-groomed and financially stable, and that your "equipment" is in proper working order.
Just as guys favor different body types, so do women.

Yea girls confuse the HELL out of me. Apparently I'm alright by at least one girls standards. But I am single ladies!:relax:
But everyone who said every girl is different got it. I actually fall into most of that list and I dont exactly have girls swarming me. [I live the "brotherly" curse]
But I always thought It was more personality than looks. Looks only make first impressions. And apparently "chestnut" eyes rank high. [DAMN MY BLUE-GREY EYES!!!:imc: :P]

Every time a guy says this, I feel more alone. :(

LOL Hazel eyes (the real name of chestnut-colored eyes) are appealing because they are light. All light or distinctly colored eyes are appealing, including your blue-grey eyes. I have green eyes for example, that sometimes turn blue or hazel under the right lighting or background. My cousin thinks it's fascinating, and has had me put on different colored shirts and shined lights in my eyes just to watch them seemingly change. lol
[I live the "brotherly" curse]
LOL A classic! You're being TOO kind, to the point of wussiness. Gentlemanly is one thing, but girls don't want a suckup. Sorry if this sounds like a harsh diagnosis, but there is a very simple cure. You just need to be more assertive. Start asking, or rather, telling her what you want of her. Instead of asking her whether or not if she would like to go out with you, reverse it, telling her "I'd like to go out with you" or "I want to see you some time. When are you free?" But these are just examples. Use that train of thought and she'll be yours.

look at it this way, once you get a gf, you'll save her headaches when other girls don't swarm you...
and she won't have to murder anyone; prison is generally bad for relationships.

HAHA I love the responses. This is too awesome.
First, my eyes also "change" color. I love it. Too cool.
You guys are the best. I can see your points too. I would just like to point out that I am in now way a suckup. What I really have going against me though is I am EXTREMELY introverted so first impressions are hard for me to make unless I am HEAVILY inebriated.
BTW I have had girlfriends in the past.
Wow... Off topic. Sorry everyone...
what i like to see on guys? :kukukuh:
these are what i tend to look for/at :
for physique, preferably taller than me or the same height, but the weight is none to extreme. like, extremely skinny or extremely big is a no-no for me. i like chubby-ish guys, but thin guys are nice to look at too. heck, i even like androgynous-looking guys (and androgynous girls, but let's not get to that ;P) :mlfy:
i think hairstyles/color depends on the guy himself, but long hair doesn't usually suit guys (1. they don't maintain it well, 2. doesn't suit their face shape), tho it does for some. as for eye color... well i prefer guys with light-colored eyes (blue, brown, green, gray, whatever).. because i'm used to seeing ppl with dark eyes (being an asian and living in asia for most of my life). it's refreshing to see various colors ^_^
however, the first thing you see when you look at the person is the overall appearance, eg. 'handsomeness'+'cleanliness' etc etc. my taste is pretty varied, almost extreme, even, for some. i like gothic-ish guys, withdark attire, piercings, eyeliners and whatnot, and yet i like looking at guys who look like the studious type/nerdy. sometimes the clothes can enhance a person's body, or really make you look weird. of course comfort should be the most important factor to choose what you wear, but a little dash of style magic can work wonders on your confidence =) :maikka:
oh, and this is quite my own personal thing, but i like to look at guys' hands. and smile. and speccies. :megane: hehehehehe ok, TMI ;P
but in the end, like takeya says, it's the personality that counts. appearances wither over time, but personality can live out till you die. like my mom keeps reminding me, "let your eyes hurt a little as long as your heart doesn't".. or something along those lines. heheheheh.

I dont know why but I had this girl who said she loved it when I blushed. She said it was cute. Is this somewhat widespread or just a quirk?
i think guys blushing are cute. maybe not all girls think so, but so far i think it is noticable, in a positive sense. =)

As people have said it depends really. Although people who focus on just looks alone most likely won't have a good relationship in the end. I swear there's this secret aura that negates all my normal judgemental skills when around attractive people. Well, not me personally *cough* but I mean in general. I guess my point is looks aren't everything and those who think so are doomed to medocrity.
...Although looks certainly help. But a personality is a huge plus.
Preferabbly it has to be someone with the facade of wood. I absolutely love boring people. They're so much more...fun to read. </sarcasm>

I am looking for a guy who is higher then me but not much and i can look at him whit out loosing my lunch lol
I personally like muscle more then bear type guys.
But the inner stuff well that's a hard part, he should take me serious and should be able to be serious... but not dead serious.
Kind and would forgive me sometimes... (have black humor and not everyone likes it).

Yeah, but it KILLS your back if you've gotta lean way over all the time to kiss your girl. It also means you have to be more flexible to preform certain intimate activities ;) :soccermania:

good lord! i got nearly everyone of those characteristics except for 2 things, the hair, and the confidence T.T never had the confidence to talk to a girl T.T
just remember all of these are just preferences.
an ugly as guy, short, fat and smelly, can get the hottest girl if he treats her right, is interesting, and make her laugh (i over exaggerate on purpose).
im not the best looking guy, i have dorky looking glasses, weird hair (still trying to get the right hairstyle down), im overweight (not too much) and kinda dorky... all the worst appearances a guy could have.
but i still had a hot (really hot) girlfriend who dated better looking guys (had, because we broke up two weeks ago, :sic:)
anyways what i wanted to say, that you can get the girl of your dreams no matter how you look as long as you got personality, confidence (its a plus not a must, i still dont have confidence)
and treat the girl like she deserve and make her feel special.
but looking good helps.
