Maybe i've been playing too much Final Fantasy Tactics.
Anyway, i was wondering if you people think it really has some kind of "mystical power" over the people, like being a help or a burden on relations and life itself.

When i get to think about to it really, first thing i think is the sign relation, since i had a hard time with my cousin when we were little, and looking at the signs, i'm Scorpio and he's Taurus, in astrology, worst relation for us (direct opposites of same sex). I prefer to call it more of a coincidence thou, as today we're actually friends.

Yes, other thing i notice is that women tend to rely more on all this astrology thing than men, which is also another thing that makes me curious about it

According to the patterns of female behavior I observed so far in my life at least, women tend to like things like predictions, tarot cards, and astrology things (this is a generalization. There are lots of exceptions).

Whether or not such things have any mystical powers depends on your belief. I honestly dont think the pattern of stars, luminous Quasaar or Galaxy patterns in the universe has any sort of effect on your life or relation with other people. You may have had a bad relation with your cousin, but now you're friends. If predictions of astrology were completely true, that, following logic, in theory is very unlikely to happen. Such predictive things like astrology were created by human imagination, and it is us humans who just like believing in things like that under the illusion of it having some kinda effect on you later. And if the prediction is bad, you just feel bad...cuz as humans, we just are curious about the future. No one can know the future for sure...but with things like astrology, people can just have some fun at predicting something they cant predict.

As for girls, I have seen, especially slightly younger ones (middle school to early high school), to proportionally have higher levels of interest in them, particularly for things like regarding the future with her boyfriend and love-related things like that. So generally speaking, I think more girls show interest in them than men...but thats just my observation.

In short? No. I don't believe any of that crap. Ask Slayden how anti-"everything" I am.

Yes ImI really is as anti-"everything" as his Taurus sign says. LOL By the way I'm a Scorpio too. Scorpio rules the genitals, urinary systems, and reproductive organs. Explains a lot doesn't it? ^^

I really didn't want to get into a religious or mystical discussion on this site. I'm already spread thin enough and the site I used to regular was specifically designed for this purpose, but it delves into ALL things spiritual and I've had discussions so deep there it even made my brain hurt.

Generally men tend to discount things like astrology more often than women this is true. Even I didn't believe it for a long time, discounting it as mere "generalization", but when my ex introduced me to it, I stoically indulged her and was taken aback at how true it was, for both of us. It wasn't the "generalization" I thought it was, especially when taking into account the other factors that play in astrology.

Most people are only vaguely familiar with just the Sun sign, or what month they were born in. Then don't know how intricate and detailed astrology is, like the position of the moon or what time of day a person was born. People have overly simplified it, and when they find that their cutting away at the system ends up giving false descriptions, they blow it off as false. Take a look at this and actually READ at least half of the page (it's pretty long) before telling me if it's true or not.

(You don't have to put your name in. Only your sex, birthdate, and location you were born matters.)

Also senhormister, opposites attract. It may not be the best compatibility in the signs, but that doesn't mean they'll be enemies either. Scorpio's enemies are Leo and Aquarius, not Taurus. But again, there are other things to consider.

What can I say Slayden we all have our beliefs.

Frankly I think if your *cough* "fortune/religion/whatever" says your relationship/life/future is doomed/going-to-be-hard/will-have-problems based on speculation and/or a calculator or ((-)your beliefs (+) vs. their beliefs) i.e You and your Girlfriend are not "compatible" with eachother {because your earth shes fire, blah blah blah}, and you decide to give up or spend time stewing in your own juices I could consider you a lower life form.

No such thing as fate. Life is what you make it. Don't let a Calculator tell you different.

YOU'RE opinion doesn't count this time. You wouldn't even read the result and automatically discounted it without looking at it. When I started to give you slimmed down versions of the results, you even admitted that you felt like someone was stalking you it was so accurate. THEN you flippantly denied that it works, despite the results, going on an ill-conceived tirade about how "love cannot be calculated," "just because it's accurate doesn't mean it applies to me," and "spirituality is bullshit."

But of course, you wanted to know the astrological position of your girlfriend so you could gain some insight into her personality. It's just when it applies to YOU that you flat-out deny it.

Sorry if I seem cold or angry, but I'm still pissed about Fya and Kain in the other thread. :1:

My O P I N I O N always counts! As long as we are talking about 1,000,000's of other peoples opinions assembled into a "calculator" my opinion will ALWAYS count.

As for what your saying Slayden, do people have to break down the composites in water before they drink it? No. Nuff said.

I agree and disagree......after all anythings possible. I always like to keep an open mind to any possibility as far fetch as it may seem.

As a person who studies these "Mystical" things as a hobby, I think zodiac signs are half true.

I think the zodiac signs do describe us, out attitude, way of life, etc. but does NOT completely define us 100%

Signs aren't really my thing...I'm more of a spirit kind of guy (ghosts, angels, demons, etc.)

By the way, if you really want "magical powers" just make a pact with a spirit, I hear those girl spirits are hot =p haha...Yes I know -_-; Another lame joke.....

dont wanna cramble anyones believes or something, but things like signs or horoscopes are just a big fat lie, it can apply to a person or two, but to synthetise all ppl, in just a few signs is ridiculous, like if any aries would be the same, or had the same luck, ppl isnt the same, so thats why horoscopes are a waste of time, or do you happen to imagine that ppl of the same sign are all the same?
lol thats not true

While I fundamentally agree on the whole issue of supernatural categories. I think you need to take a broader look on things. But yeah like I said I agree.

If only people would take a LOOK before commenting. Few people know what astrology is really about, the majority simply passing it off as myth without so much as researching it properly for themselves. I've even made it convenient and provided with a link to save others trouble, yet it seems as though no one has followed it.

*sigh* I wish Christopher Marlowe had never written Doctor Faustus; it was such a misleading travesty. Don't ask me what I mean. If you're in the know on such matters, you'll know what I'm talking about, otherwise, don't ask.

I didn't want any kind of religious or idealistic conflict to happen. Anyway, what's done is done.
Well, people have their reasons and rights to believe and unbelieve in anything they want.

I don't have a position about astrology, since i DO NOT KNOW how exactly it works, i barely know zodiac signs and whatnot, and just like any other belief, i cannot judge it without a deep understanding of it.

I agree..who knows what mysteries lurk in those seemingly innocent zodiac signs? And since we don't really understand them, we can't exactly scoff at 'em right? My grandma is a really big fan of feng shui and stuff, she even uses zodiac signs and all that on the marriages and various events of her and her family's life...but if you're talking about horoscopes, sometimes it's a bit too general so it can apply to most situations, but I guess it depends if you let it rule you or not...

Am I even making sense? hahaha ^_^

^ Perfectly. Astrology is real. It's too accurate for it not to be. But horoscopes? Pfft. Toss it. It's not that accurate at all.

daniel2
03-06-2008, 12:15 AM
Lol it's far too accurate to not be real? I can think of so many things that are pretty damn accurate that are a load of crap as well. Just off the top of my head.

Oh really? Name one thing that has 1,987,985 different combinations and you get one result that perfectly matches you the way astrology does.

This isn't the useless prattle section that is Everything/Nothing. Posts here COUNT.

Also, if you are talking about horoscope, please be more clear next time. There is a difference between the two. They may both use the signs of the Zodiac, but there is a distinction between them. Regular astrology and the signs of the Zodiac detail personality types and how they interact with others, whereas horoscopes attempt to predict the future (very poorly).
