The US government is determined to stop online piracy, even if it means turning the Internet into a full on virtual police state.

Everyone always says "this wont pass", but this time it just might. The internet will no longer be a open source for exchange of information. The intenet will be controlled by fascists soon.

Goodbye internet, you will be missed. =|

There are proxies out there, just saying. Some are as easy as downloading the compressed file, extracting the said file, then clicking on the browser. I won't name specifics because I'm sure that's against the rules, but I'll also like to point out that the bill targets websites, not end users, if that's what you are worried about.

But yeah. The government has no rights in assaulting websites. That should be left to corporations and the judicial system, if the said parties want to deal with it in the first place.

I just received this information.

Bad news first: Yesterday afternoon the Senate Judiciary Committee passed the new Internet Blacklist Bill -- the PROTECT IP ACT.

The good news: Within minutes, Demand Progress ally Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) placed what's known as a "hold" on the bill, buying us some time and drawing attention to our cause.

I WAS FUCKING RIGHT YOU DIMWITTED SHITHEADS!

Say goodbye to you precious internet.

You can say proxies, but, YOUR ISP WILL CONTROL THE INFORMATION YOU RECEIVE. Good luck finding a provider who will allow you freedom. Dunderfucks.

Side not: Well.... I hope someone uses the Auto-Pen issue to rule the signing of the Patriot Act renewal invalid because the president did not actually sign the bill. And let it die. Talk about a unconstitutional abomination...........

And then someone files a lawsuit to put a permanent injunction preventing the law from being enacted. Big business needs to be completely extracted from the capital...... Invading the privacy of individuals to try to fix a natural part of the market corrections that consumers have available to them. MAFIAA....Lining their pockets and not giving a dime to the individuals they claim to protect......... :(

What happened to the free web? It's time to let your local and state reps know they fucked up big time.....

The Hackers always Lives No one can stop the Piracy ..
even if the law is implemented.. there is no guarantee.. take an example Wiki leaks lolz..

Today we have such protection firewalls and etc security xyz..but still there are attacks which we cant stop it, though we can slow things down but not cut them off, . Even with Pen testing you can get the flaws in your Network but no guarantee..
The problem is not the law but how to track them down. Yet again not every web or system is untraceable so for those which are they will be effected

Talking about Piracy PS Network was already being hacked 4 time last month and thank to Hackers we can Run Online without being caught :)

Actually.....the laws in question treat ALL people as criminals. Innocent until proven guilty.....where have you gone?
You needed reasonable cause, proof, to get a warrant before the acts were passed. Now the government can go through all of your data without a warrant. I think that is going WAY too far.... :l

The government can get all Data access without permission I agree its gone to far..But I am saying they can track some huge number of users and those running some webs.. But not hackers.. Hacker are always under ground.. They are untraceable that's what I am saying..

If they have such system to monitor all then there will be another Piracy to crack such system.. That's the basic fundamental..
The points I raised was to ensure there will be no such system.. unless they get all Hackers locked up :P

As far as I'm concerned the US government has declared digital war. I leaving to start building a new networking system. The old internet freedom is dead, the current internet is controlled, and the future of digital information is hopeless. Time to start again. SIgh..

Good lord, the manpower to actually pull off something like this is insane.

We have little to worry about, something this massive is gonna be questioned very fast and incredibly hard to even do anything. They'll have the right, not the ability. Remember, the US Government was made to be as slow as possible so that stuff like this can be questioned and modified.

Actually there is already multiple networks in development and in use that are not based off the same schematic or the WWW.

.

This should end the thread, really. The united states government cannot stop all the information that is popping out every day, not to mention foreign piracy sites they have no jurisdiction over. ISP might control what goes through, but if they have no idea, they won't arbitrarily block sites. That would be actually unconstitutional and therefore subject to judicial review. By the time they establish justified cause, the pirates would have jumped ship again, and again, and again. It's really hard to stop an idea, even if the idea is illegal to most of the world.

Oh well. I'll just rebuild the internet.

Because I'm probably stubborn enough.
