If they continued, wouldn't it be rather boring? Unless they have some other battle between both world and it would have to beat the OVA's story... I'm just gonna say that Ed's decision at the last moment was just stupid and made no logical sense. Anime is awesome though regardless of the ending.

Ya, I wish that they would have continued the anime, it is one of my favorites. I did not like the ending, or the added movie ending, they should have just kept going with it, and kept it closer to the manga

Fullmetal Alchemist is my favorite anime. The characters, plot, emotions, story and art really made an impact on my life. It changed the way I appreciated my family especially my mother, father and younger brother. It's amazing the way characters on paper can help you through things better than anyone else.

They should leave the current series where it is. I admit, it would be nice if they started animating the manga starting from where it diverged, they would eventually catch up to the manga and probably get Naruto syndrome where they air two years of filler and progress at the speed of bread. In other words, leave the anime where it is and and keep reading the manga.

and think the anime is perfect as it is... no need for more. If you wanna know more, you know you can resort to the manga, but if it's too long a series, the main story gets lost and tangled with fillers... and that's something we all despise

If they restarted the series based on the brothers in our world, wouldn't it just be like another 'real-life' drama? After all they can't use alchemy and there's no more homoculus on either side of the gate, which means the gate is permanently closed.
Unless they rework the plot a fair bit so they can link back to their world, kinda sucks that they left Winry alone of the other side:*^8:

well i don't remember fma having any fillers, they wernt any or i was just that invloved by its greatness that i didnt notice.

by far the greatest thing i have ever seen. the amount of raw emotion in this anime is brilliant.

the characters, great mix. especially ed, hughes, al, armstrong,

the story and plot is amazing

as for the ending

the film was great i really enjoyed it, allthough it wasnt as good as the anime, it was still a masterful piece of storytelling.

maybe a bit far fetched but

they could do a 2nd film, like stop america from bombing japan. the masked guy they defeat at the start of the film is more than likely einstien. i know that sounds like a really dumb idea. but after the anime series finished there was nothing left to work with yet they still made a good film with a good story. these guys can work with anything even peanuts. thats really stupid but, if they do decide to make a second film. were in safe hands, im not creating it! :D

Despite however much I loved Full Metal Alchemist (and I really do. It's an amazing series with an awesome plot), I really don't think they should have continued the series.

It'd only look like they tried really hard to milk the series for all it's worth, making it like Bleach and Naruto. Good to begin with, but eventually becomes so drowned in crap and fillers, it too will have become terrible.

Full Metal Alchemist is quite a successful anime. The manga is dragging on and on though. Continuation of the story would be nice but i dont think it will be possible unless they added a new world...lol Mustang's fire is really badass!
