I was not really into RPGs until a had a fateful encounter with "Neverwinter Nights" and that changed my view on RPGs. I still don't like the battles where you have to take turns on defending and attacking, but that's what made the difference for me on Neverwinter, cause that game doesn't have that.
Anyway, the point of this topic is for you guys to help me out, if you please, on my search for a great RPG game that doesn't that battle in turns thing.....
I was going to buy "Oblivion" or "The Witcher", apparently theire awesome.... any opinions?

NWN2? ^^

Yes, Oblivion is very good, just like Morrowind (some say Morrowind is better though). But these are different from NWN. You have to attack/block here. If You want (another) D&D style RPG try Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1+2. Or if You'd rather play in a medieval setting Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate. These last two are old games, but very good).

The Witcher. I haven't played that yet, but I heard it's a bit different from classical RPGs, regarding the combat system.

I have NWN 2... :P, its not as good as the first, but if it werent for all its bugs, it would be an awesome game indeed.
Don't know Morrowind, but i shall investigate, as for KOTOR, i played the first one, i guess i have to get the second one too, uh... so much to do, so much time to waste... thanks!

Yupp. I would also advice you to try out Baldurs Gate 1+2, Icewind Dale 1+2 and "Pool of Radiance 2" as well as "Temple of the elemental Evil". They are all D&D Games. And very good ones too.^^

You might want to try Dungeon Siege 2 and the expansion, it's a bit more diablo2ish than the others but it's quite good all the same

Dungeon Siege 2 is an awesome game! I totally forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me. ;)

But it's rather a strategy than RPG.

Since when is this a Strategy-Game? I wouldnīt even call it RPG. Itīs more the Hack`n Slay type of Game, like Diablo.

I played Morrowind a lot.
It's a very good game, but I think it doesn't look good without PlugIns.
There's a lot of them out there, if you get the right ones, it's awesome.
I think I've wasted hundrets of hours, just running around, dicovering. Total freedom.

woah one rpg is overkill, most rpg games that a long time for you to complete but it is good. dungeon siege series is good and I love diablo series.

I also like shining force series for gba and sega genesis.

If you want the best story you can get, go for Planescape: Torment for some genial stuff like the "Brothel of Slaking Intellectual Lusts".

Its a 2 edged blade tough.. since most other RPGs (specially console ones) will seem shalow to you after it.. sad when part of the magic dies eh :~~

Be advised the battle system can be kinda ankward, however you can finish the game with few, maybe not a single combat, so long as you are somewhat of a peace lover.. make all the right choices and have some luck :)

Some of the best RPG's i've played were for te Xbox as well as the PC and they include Fable: The Lost Chapters; A Midieval game of Action, Adventure, and Fantasy... Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic; A Sci-Fi game full of Action, Adventure, Strong Plot Development, etc... Enchanted Arms for the 360; Fantasy combined with strategy gameplay intertwined with an Action-Adventure plot... Two Worlds for the 360; A Midieval epic Action-Adventure game with Oblivion/Morrowwind gameplay style. Hope these help. Please leave me positive rep if you can. Thanks Guys.

why not try the classics? Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, if you get to play them both and understand the story plot, you will truly know what a good RPG is, but if you want playtime and tons of sidequest and things to do try something from the "TALES" series specially Tales of Symphonia or anything after that

Ultima V, VI and VII are all fantastic, but they're pretty old school now. They are party based and heavy on story rather than monster hacking. Lots of exploration, and once you know where the awesome artifacts are you can run and get them at the start of the game like in Morrowind :)

Ultima VII:The Black Gate (or it might be called Forge of Virtue, with the expansion) is probably the most accessible, and there's an updated client for it called Exult ( [Only registered and activated users can see links] ) which runs on modern operating systems (yes, linux and OSX too) but you still need the original game files.

Also Ultima 8 and 9 sucked, so avoid those. Shame to see a good series go bad.
