Yeah, so I'm probably getting a haircut later on today, and I want 'Asian' hair [I'm Asian myself]. I guess you people kind of know what I mean, typical hairstyles seen amongst young Asian people or in Dramas [Btw, I am only interested in a haircut - This means, no hair extensions, bleaching of hair, gelling, or any excessive styling]. What seems to be my problem, is that I can never tell the hair dresser the type of hair I want. I mean, I know that I want Asian hair, but I can't really describe it to the hair dresser. Can someone please help me out and give me specific names or tell me how I'm supposed to describe this, it's been really bothering me for a while.

I really couldn't help you...namely as I don't know what Asian hair is. That, and simply having grown my hair for the past few years, hair cuts are alien to me. :P

Well you could always do what I do and just let your hair dread in locks.... wait that only works on black people and you said you were Asian... you could always go for dreadlocks, you'll just have to use wax. I've been growing mine for about 5 years. So as the guy above me said, haircuts are definately alien to mee

Try searching for some pics of different asian hair styles and show them to the stylist.

Good god, wat do u mean by asian hair? Asia is by no means a small place, it has beautiful straight silky hair to waves like those in the pacific.... perhaps if u dont find the kind of hair u want, u cud draw pictures.

The problem is, I don't like maintenance, and usually when I get a haircut, it lasts for about a day or two, before it ends up like what my hair was like previously.

The shape of your head, the look of your face, hair color, and the the type of hair you have (straight, curly, kinky, wavy) should dictate your style, not a continent. After growing my hair to my shoulders, cutting it back, regrowing it, and cutting it back again I finally found my ideal hairlength and style. The whole process took me about 4 years because of how long I would let my hair grow. I have a long chiseled face and wavy golden brown hair. Hair too short makes my cheekbones and jaw look "odd" and too long makes me look unkempt. So it depends on several factors you have to consider. Length and style work in tandem, so you might try growing your hair out and going with different styles as it lengthens, then cut it back and start again. Rinse and repeat until you find the ideal length/style. Taking pictures of yourself throughout your experimentation should speed up the process, however.

Why don't you grab a chinese pop culture magazine that has a ton of pictures of chinese actors/stars and find a pic that depicts mostly what you want done.

I'm assuming you live in an area with scarce amount of asian salons and haircut parlors. If you live in Cali like me however, that shouldn't be an issue.

Long hair in the front and short in the back or just shave your head. not necessarily bald >.>, think of it as a low cut.

Well what your thinking of can usually done but it's probably going to take more maintenance then you are willing to put into it.

Asian hair? Methinks a very politically incorrect assumption
