1. Gather all the files that you wish to hide in a folder anywhere in your PC (e.g. : make it in C:\hidden).
2. Now, add those files in a RAR archive (e.g. secret.rar). This file should also be in the same directory (C:\hidden).
3. Now, look for a simple JPEG picture file (e.g. logo.jpg). Copy/Paste that file also in C:\hidden.
4. Now, open Command Prompt (Go to Run and type ‘cmd‘). Make your working directory C:\hidden.

5. Now type: “COPY /b logo.jpg + secret.rar output.jpg” (without quotes) - Now, logo.jpg is the picture you want to show, secret.rar is the file to be hidden, and output.jpg is the file which contains both.
6. Now, after you have done this, you will see a file output.jpg in C:\hidden. Open it (double-click) and it will show the picture you wanted to show. Now try opening the same file with WinRAR, it will show the hidden archive .

Done!

here's the youtube video
[Only registered and activated users can see links]

This works by copying the compressed file in binary mode onto the end of the jpeg images. When the picture is opened, the jpg header says the length of the data and ignores everything below (the hidden zip, rar file). When the compression software like 7-zip, WinRAR opens the picture it looks for compatible compression headers and starts reading the file where-ever those begin.

I have absolutely no use for this, but this is one of the coolest things I've learned about computers in the last month. Thanks a lot. It's always fun to learn something new... As long as it's not English, math, science, you get the point.

If you go through the trouble of hiding such archives, then don't forget to encrypt the archive. So even if someone guesses your hiding method, he can't reveal its actual contents.

btw, this concept is called steganography.

heh Makes sense since they are both compressed files.

truecrypt is better imo, and you don't need to work so hard to hide it unless you share a computer

It's very cool and dangerous. You can catch a virus by this method.

very cool, and how can you catch a virus from combining to files??? you have to actually make a virus in order to get one on your computer like this, they just don't magically appear

if you can hide a .rar file behind a jpeg front, you can add a bit more by creating a self-executable programmed to run as soon as you've downloaded the "jpeg" that fronts it. if one were to do that, you could very well get a virus, and it would have been you that let it right past your firewall.

Pretty cool. I wouldn't use it to hide large files though.

Eh, I used to use the binary method a while back. Didn't know it was possible from cmd, but i'll give it a try now.

But if the image is 2 GB it isnt so shameless? xD

EDIT: If the rar is encrypted, it will work the same or will corrupt the data? Oo

Yeah, tricks and tips like these are fun n' stuff but what I think is more fun is when it's
on a shared computer or whatever and someone hovers their mouse over the file or
get an info box and sees the file's size on disc and is like:
