My first anime I saw was the Very first anime, lol in Elemntry school, one of my friends let me borrow an origional non-subbed AstroBoy VHS.

AstroBoy was the very first anime, and it was my first one also ^.^

I don't remember which, but:
Akira-the manga is infinitely better
Grave of the Fireflies-only good anime movie besides Makoto Shinkai's work

The first anime I watched when I was around 6 years of age was the one named Candy Candy originally produced in Japan in 1976 which I got the chance to watch when it was re-transmitted many years later. It is a very moving series which runs for about 115 episodes long.
