I would say it was pointless, but it was very entertaining for the time I saw it, and while it did not convince me to drop out of college and travel the country on a bike it did put the thought in my head. Maybe after I graduate.

I gotta agree, this was the funniest anime I´ve seen, I kinda like the contrast between humor and the serious issue which each ep - girl brings to Kintaro. Without a doubt Episode 5 was my favorite, from the time he catches an eye on the biker, seeing all the exciment o top of the bike, from the whole race with the blowing end! :D

Golden Boy was hilarious, fulfilling, and helped me recover from some hard times, when I had finished other series that made me feel like I would never watch a good anime again. I think I'll watch this one again.

Golden Boy is the most classic anime ever. The english dubbing was amazing.

My brother and I love watching it. XD it's ALWAYS funny.

Even tho Kintaro was a bit of a perv, he was really nice and sweet.

There's also alot of ecchi fan service and laughs along the way. Kintaro Oe is one of the best males in anime...well at least in my book. :D

I'm currently trying to search for the manga (there is no official english translation that I'm aware of). If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would help a bunch.

I read the first 3 volumes of the manga, and I was rather impressed.

As for the short series, I loved it. A silly protagonist, but he's awesome (hence, my forum name).

Judging by the hints given to us in the final episode of the series, the staff behind the series probably lacked money, resources, time, etc.
That or perhaps the producer felt that the mangas were too mature for just a normal series and decided to cut it short.

Somewhere else I read that ist was kind a hilaric mixture between ecchi -humour if I say it right. 6 episodes. so i'll watch them these week, upload cost still some hours i think, current 62 % after 4 hours...

Yes this is a great one to see. 6 episodes full humor and life cycles so on...
Last episode was nice to see. first epi was "getting used to" but after watching without english subtitles turend on I did watch it again after seeing it 30 min. with only japeese sounds... Yep, good anime, great humor, good drawed, backgrounds are nice, anyway i can be very positive to anyone to download it and watch it.

I remember a friend getting the dvds of this a few years back. I wish that they would ahve brought over more than just two disks whore of story. At least the final episode was a ending of sorts instead of just leaving things hanging.
