Anyone else seen this flick?
I just saw it last night, and loved what I saw. I'm a big historical buff and all that jazz, so I like the whole national treasure series...
Thought from those who've seen it?
Anyone pine to be in the theater while this thing's playing?

I don't think the quality releases are out yet, so you might have to settle for crap, but its a good movie, so go for it!

Just got back from it.
I'm OK with the National Treasure films because they're not pretentious. I was afraid that this latest would pull a Pirates of the Caribbean and suddenly assume grandiose proportions, but thankfully that never happened. It's still just as awfully implausible and simple as the first, but it does exactly what it sets out to, which is to create a fun action movie with some characters you can really like. Also, I was surprised by both Ed Harris and Helen Mirren coming in this time around, but it didn't feel like they were cashing in or whatever - I think they joined firstly because it would be a lot of fun to make. And so it was. Not bad, good for a light evening if you don't think about it too much.

Hate to be the first to come out and say so, but I thought the movie was pretty poor. I thoroughly enjoyed the first one when it came out, implausible or not, but the second movie just doesn't have much going for it that the original didn't far surpass. I think my biggest problem with the movie was the villain, who seemed to have no motivation for his actions at all. There's some mention of his family, but the whole thing is left extremely tepid and vague; it's just not convincing at all.
To be honest, I wouldn't recommend seeing it if you are a fan of the first. You're likely going to walk away disappointed. If you just love Nick Cage and have to see it, don't set your expectations too high.

Sadly, I have to agree with ultimaflaral on this one. I was hoping for more from the second movie. The first, while implausible, was highly enjoyable and kind of new in a sense. This second one was the first one with even more unbelievable feats I just didn't feel the same way I felt after the first one.

It's pretty good, but I prefer the original. But it has to be somewhat good for me to be watching anything that isn't animated.
