You can better get a GeForce 8800GT if you want cheap and power from it...
Or if you want the best buy a GeForce 8800Ultra OC... I have a 8600GT myself and I'm not really pleased... That's my opinion of you are gonna buy a card... (BTW, a 8800 and 8600 don't work together)

For the rest it's a good PC. ^^

I'm running an 8800 GTX at the moment and I've never had a problem with it crashing anything. You sure you didn't just have some bad drivers?

if they crash your pc has a problem it had nothing to do with the card.
I use a XFX 8600 GT Fatal1ty a simple search show you that this card have been overclocked to the maximum possible in the factory and interestingly only use passive heat sinks to cool down but it never crash on my computer.

personally forme, ive always had issues with the card, little things here and there not workign correctly, bad aftersales service, bad customer service ect ect, with geforce i have never experianced anythign liek that and tbh ive found it so much easier to install geforce cards in the past, may just be me beign rubbish at installation but i always mess up ati cards :(

Its just a matter of what you like. Granted a lot of games are geared to NVIDIA. But they all have there place in this world. Myself I have both ATI cross fired and NVIDIA SLi. But I dont really see anything so good all that matters is does it get the task that you want it to do done. Thats the whole reason for the computer.

Anyways other then me tossing in my two cents I wanted to say thats a very nice rig you have. I love how you told the PSU. That has to be the part that gets left out the most. ^^ But 500W will get you though for now but myself (aka this is just me you dont have to listen to me lol) I would have gone with at least a 650W for the new cards that are comping out are just nuts for power.
