I just saw this movie a couple days ago, having great hopes for it, from the previews, and the epic nature of the story. Unfortunately, it turned out to be just another extended combat scene like 300, but not even half as good.
Of course, that could just be my distaste for barbarian culture talking.

They actually added plot the movie, the original poem was... pretty much just Beowulf killing stuff.

Yeah, I'll have to pass on the movie. Just the trailers discouraged me from watching it, I'd much prefer watching one of the older beowulf movies.

CG wasn't terrible... they've come a ways from FF: Spirits Within that gave off the zombie vibe something awful.
Couple more years and it may be a very viable method.

They always end up making the old guy look real then the other characters. Funny though, but yeah. I'd more then willingly opt to just watching the old movie..
"I...AM....BEOWULF!" That phrase got stuck in my head during that entire sitting.

Actrually, that "I am Beowulf" sounded so almost exactly like that "we are spartans" line from 300.
As for the CG, there were quite a few scenes early on that looked like something I'd see in a modern video game. While I can understand that in action scenes, they used for scenes that were just people dancing, drinking, and generally partying barbarian style.

agreed, i thought it felt like it didnt know when to give up on itself, then again i always found the original poem to be boring :P

I really didn't like Beowulf much. Something about it had me yawning throughout the film. Plus I couldn't understand a damn thing Grendel was saying -_-
