View Full Version : Anybody remember Vagrant Story ?
To me this is the best action RPG yet. Great gameplay, great sound, great characters design, great visual and good story. Only one letdown about this game is no-voice acting......I wonder why SE still not making sequal for this game.....

Wasn't half bad a game, but for voice acting i have to say it would have been better to let the japanese do it instead of american voice actors.. seeing now bad american voice actors are..

It was a good game. I have to admit that I still haven't completed it though haha. I think the only let down for me was the leveling system. Never did like the slot machine way of getting more health or strength etc.

VS was a good game. FF XII reminds me of it in some ways.
VS is somewhat like a test bed for FFXII don't you agree? Both systems is oddly similar one way and another aye.

IIRC I believe Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics, and FFXII were are set in the same "world"; like a medieval France kind of deal. I also want to say they were all written by the same guy... aaaaand I'm right: Yasumi Matsuno was the executive producer for all three games.
But yeah, I hate telling people, "oh, you MUST play this, or MUST watch this or read that", etc. But Vagrant Story is one of those great stories that has many, many, "that was cool as fucking shit" moments. So there you go.

One of the few PS one games i still own and it was a great game but the leveling system was horrible imo, but the dragon fights were amazing.

is this the game where you could target body parts and modify and create weapons? if so it was so freaking hard and annoying but the storyline was fantastic and gameplay was fun just weapon making was a pain in the but
never played it, but it sounds good
Great game, but the Risk adding up got highly annoying and just required massive item use to remedy in a lot of cases.

I remember this game, one of the best games for the PS1. The story being it's strongest point, the option to target different areas of an enemy was genius also that you could make your own weapons and fix them...
An underrated jewel.

I understand where you're coming from, but the game got a perfect score from Famitsu Weekly! At the time it was I think only the 3rd game to get a perfect 40. They've been publishing in one form or another since 1986, and they've only given six perfect 40s. Just another point as to the majesty that is this game. ;)

i dont like to criticise that much but i have to say it i really didnt like vagrant story the first time i played it i was really dissapointed and thought that it was just a piece of crap and the first thing i did about that was changing the game for another: "xenogears", but i really have to be greatful to vagrant story because it took me to know one of the most incredible games of all time ( if you dont figure out what game im talking stupid lol, "xenogears")
wow so many say this game is cool i'll try it

I remember renting the game once for a week. I remember it having a unique battle system different from most other RPG's I've played. Arg wish I had the time to finish the whole game.
It was a great game if you haven't tried it, and a very interesting system. Aside from some complaints like the aforementioned buildup of risk, I'd very much like to see a sequel.

Neat game, done by a lot of the same crew as FFXII - check out the wikipedia page, it's pretty good if you're interested. My only complaint is that the art uses the same kind of muddy tones as FFXII and FF Tactics, ends up looking a bit bland.
I've got the CD right around here somewhere, I should play it again... bargain bin second hand for $5 :) somebody didn't know what they were selling.

Vagrant Story and FFXII both are directed by Yasumi Matsuno
if you now know him. he's the guy that make Final Fantasy Tactics
he leave some trail in his game that the player can feel that item's name, place or something that combine in same realm but in other game, other time
example: Vagrant Story is set in Valendia. Valendia is one of the continents in Final Fantasy XII but you will not see Ashley or any character from Vagrant Story in FFXII
this is one of many reason that's why Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy XII got full score from famitsu
to know everything about relation between this two game
