I think that Kratos quest was the best game of this year for PS2. It was perfect. I deeply recommend this game!!!
kratos eh? i really love lore especially for greek and fantasy, and this game gave me just that! but the ending for gow2 was so saddening.... CUZ I GOTTA GET A PS3 TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS!
how do u think they'll make a game out of the plot set now? kratos is winning!! (usually kratos is at the bottom of the food chain)

I love the god of war games on PS2. I loved them so much I ended up finishing God of War 1 on god mode and nearly finished God of War 2 on god mode also. Great animation, great gore-like entertainment that makes me want to yell "I wish I could rip an ogres eye out!" :P

Probably some of the best games I've seen for a looooong time, finished GOW1 and 3/4 way through GOW2 so hoping to get that finished soon when I get around to playing it again ^^
Those 2 are good example of polished games with a wide variety of combat to keep the game enjoyable and not to mention the awesome viciousness of mr. god of war.

Oh, it won't last. Either the Titans will betray him, or the gods will get even bigger, and we'll have another game of epic boss fights. I can almost guarantee that you'll get to kill the titans (though I can't for the life of me figure out how), because one of the developers said that 'God of War 3 will show us why there aren't more recent legends', or something to that extent.

I liked GoW 1, didn't much like the 2nd installment. Without going into a long diatribe, couldn't someone at Sony Santa Monica find a mythology professor and discuss the Ancient Greek concept of time? Even for like 5 minutes? Over the phone?
And the concept designs for the Titans were totally phoned in. They didn't really inspire much; they were just big, gray, grumpy people. Maybe they had an extra arm or two, or cool mutton-chop sideburns, but they didn't even draw inspiration from the legends themselves (which normally is absolutely fine; reimagining tried and true archetypes is the name of the game, but these Titan designs were 100% blah).
Anyway, yeah, GoW1, probably best game on the PS2. GoW2, nice action game, I guess, HUGE narrative issues from top to bottom.

Actually, these titans were much closer to the original legend than the titans portrayed in most movies. You're probably thinking of the titans' fifty-headed, one-hundred handed brothers, the Hecatonchires. The actual titans were little more than humanoids with the occasional addition, such as Oceanus' scaly tail.
Of course, to fit in with the excessively large minotaurs and their extra parts, the GoWII team needed to embellish the Titans as well, in this case remodeling them to better represent their elements, and since modern usage of 'titan' has come to represent that which is, well, TITANIC in size, the titans were scaled up quite a bit. In Chronos' case, they'd already shown him in the first game, so they just used the already-finished character design.

I could not disagree more; Typhon was a perfect example of this. In Greek legend, Typhon was a monster, a dragon "with dark flickering tongues flashing fire from their eyes and a din of voices and a hundred serpents issuing from his thighs" (Hesiod, 700BC). Here's a piece of pottery with Zeus making Typhon his bitch:

See? Dragon. Not some grumpy old curmudgeon (although they got the cave part right). Again, I'm all for artistic license, switching paradigms around, re-imagining, etc. A four-armed Atlas? Pretty neat, if he didn't look like all the other Titan designs in the game. The Titans were the primordial forces of nature to the Greeks, the Olympians were personifications of human emotions, who after defeating the Titans pretty much took their place in nature as well. The Gods were just like you and me, only more. More intelligent, more beautiful, more lustful, more hateful. The Titans represented the ocean, the earth, the sun and moon, etc. etc. This is Mythology 101 stuff.
I mean, I'm a nobody. I have a passing interest in things like this. But I could find this information with a tippity-tap of my keyboard and a couple mouse clicks. You'd think a team of writers and designers, who's livlihood was surrounded by putting together a new Greek legend, would be able to come up with something better than what they did. I mean, take a day off and go to a museum for crying out loud, Barlog! You'd make a better game (and be a better citizen too). :P
im a xbox player, but even i have to give this game repects

GOW 1 is a great game. One reason is because of Kratos, he is a likable anti-hero.

i love the god of war games although i too am in a less than happy mood that i am now froced to buy a ps3 to play the 3rd installment. anyways was anyone else under the delusion that Kratos would be slightly less moody after becoming a god?

I liked the first one second one was good but i didn't like it as much as the first.
The biggest problem i figure they have with the third one is how to get the whole thing to work story wise. I mean the end of the second kratos is essentially unstoppable so I'm just curious about how they're going to remove his powers or whatever to make the third work

You guys are playing GOW for historical accuracy? C'mon, it's just a video game. No way will you see Jason and the Argonauts with Perseus in the same game. Think of it as something like Kingdom Hearts, no way will you see Cloud and Squall in the same game, plus cloud in kh1 never had a wing.
Love this game, chopping anything that moves has to be fun.

Funnily enough, I've played God of War 2, but I've never even seen the original. I thought the game had some incredibly well done fight sequences, but frankly most of the regular running around got old. Still, a very respectable story for a sequel.

God of War is simply put the best thing that happened to the PS2, since the last Metal Gear.
I hope and pray that Sony doesn't lose the this exclusive too!
