Clannad and Kanon both have their unique and charming characters, even if minor mechanics are reused. I think the girls in both present different appealing traits.

Key animation is simply amazing although my sister doesn't like the story I just can't get enough. I heard that there will be one more series after Clannad and that's all :(

Finding it hard to get into but I'll give it a proper go when the whole thing has been subbed.

Kanon 2006 is simply the best drama anime EVER. Clannad has a lot more to prove if it wants to take the crown for itself. There's still nothing in Clannad as good as Makoto's arc (best episodes ever made in a drama anime, followed closely only by Air TV's Misuzu's arc) or Ayu's arc. (Still Fuko's arc was better than the rest of the arcs of Air or Kanon... not a small achievement for sure)
Up to now, Clannad is funnier than Kanon or Air, but even if the characters are also awesome, they aren't as great as Kanon's best (only fuko is) or Air's Misuzu.
Sadly, this second arc isn't nearly as good as Fuko's (although it is really funny sometimes, the drama part isn't as great as they usually are), and I hope it improves in it's last episode.

If it ended today, Clannad would end as the third best drama anime ever, behind the other 2 previous Key's animes. In other words, is by far the best ongoing anime, it'll probably be my 2008 favorite anime, but compared to these 2 other monsters it's a small step behind.
Of course, the anime is far from over, and it has more than enought potential to become the new king of the dramas. I really wish it does.

I like Fuko. Especially every time she appears out of no where and Tomoya and the rest of the gang being confused on who she was and what she is doing. She still has her funny moments of popping here and there as the series go on :) my favorite character so far ^_^

CLANNAD is love, but I personally believe that Kanon is better by far.
I'm sitting here wondering one thing though: Will KEY make anime adaptations of their other games/Visual Novels? (Planetarian, Little Busters, Tomoyo After)

It has a large cast of unique and entertaining characters, an extremely dramatic yet enticing storyline, and comedic aspects which do not get old (besides the reoccuring Fuko appearances).

I think this anime is easily Key's top, and it will outdo both Kanon and Air by the time the anime's over, if not already.

They're all great!!!! My fave characters r Nagisa and Ayu dun really have a fave in Air. And as much as I like soccer, I NEED CLANNAD. they should reschedule the game thts taking place during Clannad's air time.

i agree 100%. i've been meaning to pick up the games and play through, but hardly have the time for that kind of devotion right now.

I liked that all the characters interact more than in Kanon and Air. Even after a story arc is over, the characters Fuko and Kotomi are still there, if in lesser prominence.

I really Clannad, nice storyline, great art, great characters. All elements of what makes a good Key anime.

Just saw 22, I knew it was going to end up as it did, but perhaps not quite as directly as Tomoya asked haha.

I guess I'll have to watch the movie and watch out for any more that come out.

I find both Air and Kannon much better. Something about Clannad didn't click with me. Maybe it was because the drama wasn't all that great also felt some of the arcs of some of the girls were rushed as well. Nagisa situation was overblown then again this is Nagisa who would cry at the thought that she may have step on a ant. Overall it was good but the other previous two series were better.

i never seen air, but i kanon and clannad are both very closely ranked for me but i like the character design of kanon over clannad, and kanon is so much more tragic (so more tears) so kanon to me is somewat better then clannad but in clannad the characters that u become familiar with dont die so i like how it isnt as bad to make me go under my sheets for about an hour or two being really upset over the loss...i mean they dont come back mysteriously like fuko

I'm ok with Otogi Clannad is marvelous and we can see that the "Key" studio has grown up with time series after series they make another that surpass the previous serie !!!

In my opinion, Clannad started out great and took a nosedive somewhere in the middle. By the last episode, watching it was more like something I felt like I had to do than something I really wanted to do.

The introductory arc and the Fuuko arc were good, but considering I didn't play the game before watching the series, I felt like the Kotomi arc was going to go differently than it actually did. After that they mixed together a few of the other arcs and gave Nagisa a paltry two or three episodes for her own exposition that turned out to be pretty underwhelming. Because of that, I don't really care about the afterstory. Tomoya was the only one who developed naturally as a character. Everyone else seemed like their developement was a little force. And by "everyone else," I of course mean Kotomi, the only other character who changed substantially in the entire series.

It's not that I didn't like it, I just thought that, compared to Key's other works, seemed pretty mediocre.

Drama-wise, I felt that Kanon 2006 handled it better. The atmosphere of entire anime even feels much more suitable for those tear-provoking drama (Makoto's arc almost made me cry). However, I just have a gut-feeling that the After Story will own in the drama....

CLANNAD's comedy is definitely good. Who doesn't love SunoharaxTomoya?

I think it's natural to compare Kanon with Clannad, but personally I like Kanon much better, as it resolved pretty much everything in its own mysterious little way.

But for Clannad to be effectively judged, I think that we must wait for After Story to air. I watched the Clannad movie, which does contain much of it. And... I was devastated. Let's say that Nagisa's story gets told, and leave it at that.

For those who enjoyed Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (aka Rumbling Hearts), this'll be right up your alley, in terms of drama. Say no moah ... except that it will spoil After Story for you. But mannnnn...

(And please keep the spoilers to yourselves if tempted to ruin it for everyone.) I'm waiting to rank Clannad alongside Kanon until after the After Story; right now Kanon (and Air) = "10", while Clannad has a solid "9".
