As long as you have the money, this is pretty well the way to go. For each 600GB HD you fill, it would cost about $40 in DVD-Rs, which is significantly cheaper than the HD itself

the problem with dvd's is that if they're scratched you're going to have to waste quota downloading anime again.
I currently have 2TB worth of xhdd, 1TB is for anime archives (i .rar my anime before i archive them to save space) and the other 1TB is for all my games and program archives to save space on my computer (which currently has 2 500GB hdd). All in all i find that if i'm running out of space i'll start deleting some anime that i won't rewatch again.

So long as you actually take care of your stuff though, that shouldnt be an issue XP

As the above said, Burn it to a DVD-R or DVD-RW. And keep it safely...

Blue Ray recorders are finally coming down in price, though the media is still pricey; that'd be one way to shove a lot onto a single disk. If you want to truly archive it for backup purposes you'll need to use some kind of external media like a DVD-R, or get a 1-2 TB drive and only use it when you need to read or write from it, slap it into an external enclosure and then only turn it on when needed.
