Shining Soul II
Final Fantasy Tactics Advace (superb game)
Harvest Moon
Urbz Sims in the city (I hate normal Sims, but this is way too cool)
Pokemon (any, but a bit boring for me)
Fire Emblem (a bit hard in later levels)
Summon Night (any)
Golden Sun (any)

Have fun! I personally would start from Final Fantasy, then something like Harvest Moon. Just read the reviews in gamefaqs.

I'm guessing either the repititive but fun to many RPG game, Pokemon. Or any of the Final Fantasy games. IMO though, I love the FF games, but I rather play them on their original concole, that being the SNES. Talking about the remakes obviously.

Lol Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is so different that wouldn't recognise it. Even the PS game wth the same title is nothing like that.

There are some games on GBA that don't even remind originals. The developers understand that "reduced" game would be cr*p, so they just remake it taking a totally different aspect. In FFTA you won't find any "materia", and the game is really fun nevertheless.

Golden Sun. By far the best RPG games for the GBA.

If you like Licenced RPGs, your best bet is Zoids: Legacy.

Golden Sun
Fire Emblem
Breath of Fire
Pokemon (Any one but not recommended to play all the versions unless you want to be a top collector).
Megaman Battle Network (Pretty fun if you want an rpg that is totally different from the orthodox style of RPG)

Well id say that Golden Sun is the best RPG on GBA. I think FF:tactics is good too and all the zelda games but Golden Sun is the best. If you want to find the rom its will be on emuparadise.org

Golden Sun... a straightforward kind of RPG; it's what you'd expect - magic, swords, etc. but it's good stuff
Fire Emblem... a tactical RPG strategy game... by far one of my favorites. it's different gameplay but i'm sure you'll like it very much
Legend Of Zelda: The Minish Cap... normal classic-type zelda game but it's good

The open-ended or "sandbox" style of gameplay you're referring to is VERY rare in console rpg's, (except for the mmorpg titles, obviously). I know of a couple for PS2, and possibly one for the GBA. Try looking for monster rancher on the gba. It's more like pokemon than an rpg, though.

You could just do a web search for gameboy advance and sandbox. Might get you some results

Golden Sun 1/2 are my favorites so far but there are quire a lot of decent ones available.

Pokemon is always fun, but I can really recommend the Golden Sun duo, as well as the Megaman Battle Network series (though that last is pushing it when it comes to being called an RPG, being very fast-paced and almost completely mobile). For turn-based strategy, FFTactics Advance is good, and Battle Network five has some sections that sort of fit the bill.

And, of course, the obligatory FF1+2:Dawn of Souls mention.

Mario & Luigi Superstar saga (not the best but can have some fun)
Lufia - the ruins of Lore (i found it boring but some liked it)
Kingdom Hearts - Chains of Memory (very good game)
Riviera - the promised Land (One of the best)
Shaman King - Master of spirits 1&2 (havn't played enough to give a critic)
Super Robot Taisen Original Generation 1&2 (good tactic game)
Sword of Mana (Fun playing both stories)
Zoids Legacy (good animations but a bit boring at times)
Zone of the Enders - The Fist of Mars (another VERY good tactic game)
Tactics Ogre - The Knight of Lodis (Like Final Fantasy Tactics... sort of)
Rebelstar Tactical command (a bit slow but very good tactic game)
Maces of Fate (Just like playing D&D)
Eragon ... ... ... forget about this one :em0129:


with this ones & the FF saga(I-VI) & the 2 golden sun, you'll have plenty to play for the next couple of years :em001:

The games LUNAR and Golden SUN are two of the RPG I have ever played on Gameboy advance...and I have already completed the games. Or I finished the games a long time ago.

i found a collection of Phanasy Star games on the GBA at gamestop once
Phantasy Star Collections
3 rpgs on one cartridge, they may be a little hard to start off without a booklet or something, so do some FAQ reading on the gaming info site of your choice

but when i play phantasy star it was the worst graphic of all RPG games on my life(in GBA)

a) they were not made for the GBA, they were ported there as they were, so they didn't get touched up
b) graphics do not make a game
